Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
The more I play the demo, the more I really like and appreciate what the developers have done. Attempting to use boxing strategy really pays off.
I just finished one match online. The guy I played was pretty sim, no spammer. The judges gave him the first round, but I knocked him down twice in the second. During the beginning of the ref's count on the 2nd knockdown, he quit.
Ugh. He could've at least tried to get up the 2nd time.
If anyone wants to add me for some non-spamming action, feel free (on the 360): Flame70Last edited by Flamehead; 02-05-2011, 08:25 PM.Comment

this demo is broken. period.
i've played it well over 50 times and I am yet to have stunned or even knocked out ALI w/tyson (i like tyson)
but as soon as i get ALI i can win.
also, i think the points system is flawed to where i lose 28/29 every round to ALI...
EA i know you can see this. fix it please.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
Some of my gripes seem like they can be fixed with ratings and sliders, so things I would like to see in the next incarnation:
Do away with illegal blows! There were some instances where me and my opponent both lunged at each other. That is an instance where an accidental headbutt could occur. As for low blows, that could happen randomly during close exchanges to the body.
Clinching should matter! When fighting inside, that should turn into a clinch opportunity where the ref should break it up. Some fighters like Mayweather use clinching as a way of not letting his opponent get off. In FNC and previous versions, clinching is only to save yourself from getting KO'ed.
It is difficult to initiate the clinch and the A.I. doesn't do it enough. As Ali, I have trouble clinching Tyson when we are literally chest to chest. And why is the push so slow?
I also agree with everyone else about the terrible stamina. If they fix stamina it may make the clinch matter, which would also help us get more realistic punch numbers.Comment

Wasn't pleased after the first night of playing but I'm starting to enjoy the game. Honestly I went from the demo back to 4 & it's tough. The graphics are a huge improvemt as is the speed. I'm wondering if it's a tad too fast though. Sometmes I can't even see what I'm hittng!
Footwork is a weak point as is the stamina. One round I threw 79 punches & my opponent threw 156!!! Jab still needs to count a bit more too I think. It's not bad though.Comment

I fought 2 guys online. One was a newb where I had tyson and he ali. It was a 2 knockdown
destruction that was over in rd 2. The 2nd was a pac vs pac fight wherw he tried to bully
me and he kept eating counters. After his 2nd stun state in the 2nd he quit
(He was experienced and tried all the old FNR4 tricks - hyperr punching, short term spinning, etc.Last edited by acts238shaun; 02-05-2011, 09:29 PM.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
Just played another online match. Ihate that there only 3 rounds, it allows the other player to throw a crazy amount of punches with no consequence. I throw around 65 punches per round wiith Cotto, Ali and Pacquiao, and 55 with Tyson, but regardless of who my opponent is using, they throw over 90 per round. I'm connecting in the mid 50's, and my opponent is getting low to mid 40's, but I lose every time I don't get a knockdown because my opponent doesn't gas out.Originally posted by slickdtcI'd ride his bus, that's all I'm saying.

Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
So I'm Tyson fighting Ali offline (I figure, if I can become good w/ this matchup, I can become good in general lol). Anyway, in round 1 I throw 71 punches and connect on 53%. Including 5/6 counters (to Ali's 1 of 4) and 4 of 12 power punches. And after the round my cornman is yelling at me telling me I have to throw more punches if I want to win. Are you freaking kidding me! (I won one of the judges in the round)
That is my biggest complaint about the demo I think. Yes, you can box fairly realistic. However, unless you get a knockdown, you are not rewarded for it because the other fighter throws so many damn punches and is not punished for it (Ali threw 100 in the first round)... heck, 71 is a ton of punches if we're talking realism, but in this game that is practically the bare minimum I can throw and be competitive (my target is for 60 punches per round to be the usual, but its impractical 95% of the time in the demo)
Again, I suspect the stamina issue will be fixable via sliders, but for now its still annoying. Also, I think removing counter windows (counters should be natural events that happen, not forced events with flashes), improving the impact of jabs and the importance of first contact (aka if we're both throwing a punch and mine lands first, you shouldn't just be able to land yours right after, which leads to those all out brawls), and the inclusion of feints would go a long ways to bringing the sweet science more fully to the game.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I've beaten Ali several times and I suck. A lot of times I'll throw a left hook right hook two punch combo mixing up the location, but going to the body more to avoid being countered by a head move. After the combo I'll back off and try to set up a power modified right cross.
It doesn't work all the time, because Ali is a qualified slugger in this game too.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
A lot of complaints are legitimate, but a lot of them are based on trying to win a 3 round fight. If I get knocked down in round 2, but I have remained competitive so far, I'm thinking to myself that I can regroup and pull the fight deep into later rounds.
If I can do that, I very much so believe the fight will turn in my favor. One of the temptations of this demo is to try and win, where what we should be doing is setting ourselves up to win.
(unless I face a spammer and I HAVE to expose him..lol)Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment
