wow, well, that left a lot to be desired. Seemed to me that the things they hated, I also would hate and the thinks they liked/loved I also was not pleased with. Starting to think that FNC might not be for me despite the fact I LOVED the past 4 and was looking forward to this one a great deal.

I'm glad they revamped the controls. For a pro boxer, throwing an uppercut is as effortless as sticking the jab.

I guess I'm getting old and I sound like Abe Simpson, but today's analog obsession is bittersweet to me.
In one hand, it feels awesome and more fluid/natural to use analog sticks for some sports (ie, NHL).
But on the other hand, I hate how if you're bad with analog controls (see ME), you're handicapped when controlling athletes who are special.

So if I were to control Sugar Ray Robinson, he would stink because I'm too inept at throwing a left-hook, right-cross combo.
Or how about Tyson's patented bolo-punch where he goes to the body with a hook and then comes up with an uppercut. I was horrible at that!
With these new controls, I think I'll be much better at playing as a top boxer.

So when he says the controls are dumbed down, I don't mind.

Now, as far as taking strategy out of the game, controls shouldn't be part of the equation.
Stamina, power, counter effectiveness, reach and attributes should take care of that.

I've played some excellent boxing games using buttons where there was tonnes of strategy (ie VB1 and VB2).
