Ali vs Tyson - Tyson chin rating Test (video)

Well lets first get out the obvious out the way. I am not trying to fight realistic in this video. My entire goal was to test this so called "weak" chin that Tyson has. I have yet to knock him out and this guy online took big time abuse and still did not go down. Almost one time but it was a quick ringer.

The main thing many of us community guys are doing is getting online in party chat and trying to find any and all exploits that are available in the demo. There is several so far.

Ali's chin, combined with his speed is one of them. Reason being is that Ali can stand and exchange with Tyson and hold a very good chance at winning. Then he can also run around the ring and jab Tyson to victory all day long. To the untrained eye you would think, ohhhh people are just boxing effectively. But nope, Ali is a demi-god lol.

Ali's big advantage was speed, range, and peppering opponents all fight long. It was not his ability to take 30 Tyson hooks to the face

So his chin rating needs to be lowered and his hand power need to be lower so there is a bigger difference between "Brawlers" and "Boxers". Otherwise you can expect CAB online to be filled with Ali Molds.

This is a example I feel Tyson's chin is good where it is at.

    Good video. Thanks for posting.

The thing is, while playing, it drives me nuts to see Tyson (and Ali) take some serious bombs straight on the chin with little effect. And then suddenly you're floored from a jab or weak little hook.
There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason behind it other than dice rolls in the background.

One thing I'm going to do is take away Ali's one-punch KO attribute.
And I'd love for EA to create a one-punch chin attribute. Tyson was never stopped from one-shot ala Martinez-Williams, Rahman-Lewis. So I think that would be a valid addition to future games.

Not sure how to take this. In game or real? Because there is many factors that go into why he was not KO'd in real life that the game can't factor in.

Basically do you feel Ali should be able to take multiple power hooks/uppercuts from Tyson??

Is it possible the caculation of the overall rating leads to Ali godliness...if they want him to be 93...that won't be able to reduce the ratings b/c then ppl would moan about him being 85 even though he will be represented more accurately.

In real life no, unless you count him not coming out for the 11th round of that Larry Holmes fight a knockout. Ken Norton broke his jaw, though.

On this game, I stunned him a couple of times, that as close as I've come.

              True, he was never stopped.
But if not for Angelo Dundee, he would have been KO'd by Henry Cooper.

In the game I was wondering if anyone has I've stunned but thats it. its two different era's I think foreman was prob the closest in power that he felt. As far as holmes go it was the beginning of the end.

Great post Money. Ali's Robocop-like chin and one punch/ko's or stunners put him on a godly level. I know the man can take a puch given his wars with Foreman, Norton, Frazier, etc. but his damage intake from Tyson can border on the rediculous. His stats will get edited as far as I'm concerned if I do get this game.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Not to be redundant by why is Ali's right hook rated 20 (MAX)? In this game if you throw the right cross and you're up to close it turns into a 20 rated hook-ridiculous.

I'd still put his chin up there with the best of them. His hook ratings of 20-17 should be about 12-10.

Somewhat of a myth Money. Ali got knocked down by a Cooper left hook with 2 seconds left in the fourth round. When Ali was seated on his stool for the break Dundee opened up a small tear on Ali's gloves to more reveal the opening. He showed it to the ref, and was informed that there were no more gloves available. Whether Dundee purposely cut the glove is a matter of debate. The bottom line is the fight resumed only 6 seconds after it should have, not the absurd 2.5 minutes Cooper still claims.

The film of the fight show this, but some British fight fans claim it was edited.

Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

So they say but Ali was able to go 3 fights w/Joe Frazier who punched harder then Cooper, George Foreman, Ken Norton and Ernie Shavers. When he did go down it was usually from the left hook and he always got right back up. I would say that Ali could take a left hook from Tyson but in moderation. If Ali didnt tie Tyson up like he did many of his opponents then Tyson may get to him since he had power in both hands
