Re: Fight Night Champion Tuner Set Available Today, For 360 Demo Only
the demo only needs tweaking on a sim level for us. It's fine for the masses out there. we haven't had a chance to play a full match yet, and many of the judgements being made here are premature to say the least.Comment

I hear this statement every year about EA sports. And they usually don't follow through, and have countless patches and tweaks. They have much to prove, so excuse me I won't "relax". They are taking my 60 dollars.. so they need to get it right, and not waste my time with a broken game out of the box.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Tuner Set Available Today, For 360 Demo Only
the situation is not as dire as some of you drama queens are leading the flock of mindless sheep to belive
the demo does not need MAJOR TWEAKING. There are a few minor areas that can and will be easily tweaked and one major area that needs to be adressed (PERFECT BLOCK). I agree EA across the board could do a better job QA testing, but this gen pretty much every sports game gets its fair share of tweaking post release. You can test all you want but chances are when you unleash a game to the masses people are gonna find ways to break and exploit it that you never thought of.
The promising news is that with the new Tuning downloads, EA is gonna be able to get the game playing right faster and be able to support it much longer in the event things come up later. So all of yall saying the sky is falling, go eat a Snickers bar cuz you're acting like divas...

Re: Fight Night Champion Tuner Set Available Today, For 360 Demo Only
This is probably the most time I have ever given a demo. It is a demo, and I actually think it's one of the best sports gaming demos we have seen. The reason being, and speaking of course for only the 360, but what makes it something of worth is the tuner set experiment.
They were able to show us that the game can be changed without patching it, and a substantial change at that. In particular, the online portion of this game is what many are concerned about. Stamina, counter punches, punch effectiveness. All of those things can be dealt with, and EA did in fact go by what the community was saying in this demo's tuner set.
I'm very interested to see how this plays out in the retail version. I think it's pretty promosing at it stands.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Tuner Set Available Today, For 360 Demo Only
[QUOTE=vision;2042121409]ok... none of us want to waste our money. My point is that it's still a game. Thats being made to appeal to as many types of gamers as possible. And if you don't see that at least (against all things EA) they are showing us some commitment to improving the product what else can be done?
Constructive feedback is seemingly being listened to and implemented within a week of this product. That is a HUGE step towards the possibility of giving YOU what you want. But do it constructively. Not saying everything we say will be taken into consideration, especially in the case of this game, in which viewpoints seem to span 180 degrees.
Is the game fun? Is it better than previous versions? Has it earned your money? maybe not. But since you are a member of these forums the hope is that you can provide some insight that could go towards making the game better.Comment

As far as it being just a game.. of course it's a game. It's entertainment. That doesn't mean I shouldn't want to get the most out of my entertainment for the dollar.. as well as have a decent representation of the sport. There should be a standard. That's all I want. And it's not too much to ask for. Ask the Madden dev team what they think about this..Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Tuner Set Available Today, For 360 Demo Only
they must have put it back. I just played as cotto vs pac and I beat him. I held him to 37% which was great. I landed over 50% barely, I threw 70 punches per round. He finished wiht the standard 280 punches or so which seems to be par for the cpu.
This time however I played defensively and would jab, throw a 1-2, jab step back and throw a power straight. I dropped him in the 1st with a perfect hard straight, and never hurt him for the rest of the fight, but out boxed him. Although he landed some great shots it was good because I never was stunned and shouldn't have been.
Most satisfying fight so far and it felt great. I won 10-8, 10-9, 10-9 and could have maybe had a 10-10 or lost the 2nd, but in reality I out boxed him so it was ok.
we would have gone deep the way the fight was going.
what I'm hoping for is that pac and I would still be somewhat fresh into the championship rounds, maybe less output, but not traditional videogame boxing where each guy is a 2 punches away from being out and an't get up because stam is drained.
He did go more to my body and would have most likely stole some rounds, but overall I felt it was good and really enjoyed it.
I'm buying right away and hope my career will be enjoyable. Easily best fight night yet. All they have to do now is slightly improve the footwork/locomotion of ring movement, reduce or remove "counter punch", reduce punch accuracy, get rid of canned cut scenes/knock down sequence and just keep it live like ufc and it will be stellar. As it stands now you can win with legit boxing strategy, and it's satisfying.
as I've said a few times now, beating someone to the punch (a real counter punch) should be more important than a fight night 'counter'. I'm not a huge online boxing gamer, but online and off you don't want a who's the better counter punch scenario to be the be all and end all. A little more reward for great strategy would be beneficial.
Overall I have to say it's looking good and it's the first time since fight night round 1 that I'm truly impressed and looking forward to playing retail.
please oh please just don't make it a gas in the tank contest. In the past if you're in the 8,9,10 and so on round range it's a joke and survival fest against the cpu as to who can land 1 or 2 counters and barely throw anything.
edit - one more thing is the quick movement dashes are serviceable especially backwards since the space covered is almost perfect, but I think they should exaggerate lateral movement a bit more so that side to side movement becomes more of a legit strategy to confuse people and open up angles.
pps - **in chris farley voice where he says i want holeyfield** I want to fight phobia!!!
I beat your arse in Backbreaker, now it's time to beat the breaks off you boxing style lolLast edited by allBthere; 02-15-2011, 01:45 AM.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Fight Night Champion Tuner Set Available Today, For 360 Demo Only
[QUOTE=vision;2042121995]
I've been constructive, and honest. Not everyone has to agree with the way I voice my opinions. All I'm saying is that EA doesn't have the best track record. And usually a demo from EA reflects the finished game. So yes.. I'm jaded. I already recognize that tuner sets are a step in the right direction. They may pull it off, and make a spectacular game. I actually really want them to get it right. But personally they need to prove it to me. k?
As far as it being just a game.. of course it's a game. It's entertainment. That doesn't mean I shouldn't want to get the most out of my entertainment for the dollar.. as well as have a decent representation of the sport. There should be a standard. That's all I want. And it's not too much to ask for. Ask the Madden dev team what they think about this..
At this point in the dev cycle I think we are far past the point where trusting EA makes a difference. They have shown their hand, so to speak, there should be much mystery as how the finalized version will play. What is promising is that they have also set the bar high for themselves for post release support, by listening to community complaints/criticism and already extending the olive branch by attempting to improve the gameplay experience with the tuners on the demo. The devs seem like good guys who understand the sport, I think they will do their best with the tuning.
I'm like you, I expected more from FNC, but I'm of the opinion that its already a good game that will be probably get better if we get some of these fixable issues ironed out, but overall doesn't seem like the game has a high ceiling with regards to potential for being great, too many things are missing or unfixable for this to be THE definitive boxing game. Despite that I think its better than FNR4 and despite it's flaws could end up being one of the best boxing games ever made and thats good enough for me at this point.

Re: Fight Night Champion Tuner Set Available Today, For 360 Demo Only
Just thought of this and would like OS take on it...
What if EA released slightly adjusted tuners every day that made every day's fights slightly different than the previous day. Maybe one day will be power punchers day or one day counters will be slightly more powerful, etc. I'm not talking huge changes, just slight changes that will change the day's "best" styles on a day to day basis. This adds an element of "bad training" "buster douglas / tyson" etc if you can follow what I'm saying...
Any thoughts?Comment
