How serious do you take ratings, stats, styles, and tendencies?

I was wondering how serious do fans take ratings, stats, styles, and tendencies in a boxing game?
I have been watching different forums on the internet and this question came to me. If people are not huge fans outside of a big fight on Pay-Per-View how can they take these things serious?
If a fan does not know the capabilities and tendencies of a boxer how can they complain? If they do not have knowledge of the sport. I say EA can make a boxing fan out of a casual by capture everything in detail. Back, to my original question how serious do you take ratings, stats, styles, and tendencies?

All I can say is that I am a little concerned to see people complaining they can't flash KO Ali in a 3 round fight.

Boxing is so unpredictable, I am not sure anyone can truly know the ratings. There are a few ratings that everyone would know, Ali's elusiveness and speed, Tysons and Foremans power, etc.

But I look at recent fights and when Sergio Martinez lowered the Boom on Paul Williams, what you you say eachothers ratings are? What would you say they are after the 1st fight that went the distance?

Kelly Pavlik, 2 years ago, people would have had a totally different view of his ratings than they do now. Same for Cotto after Margarito beat him with a horeshoe in his glove.

What are Mosely's ratings? He looks different from fight to fight to me.

What you are saying true but this applies to nearly every sports game. You see players in a basketball game who may be hot from the freethrow line but look like garbage any other time. In boxing it's more of a overall career thing.

We need to push EA to give us more or they are going to continue to baby step and leave things out because they deem them unimportant.

For me I 've been following boxing since I was 8 when all you had was wide world of sports and boxing was on Saturdays and Big HBO fights. Over time I've learned the styles of boxers some of the do's and don'ts for guys. But also the style of the fighter means alot. You have to know the guy strong punches and weakness. Also whether he's a left or orthodox. the way you fight a southpaw is completely different than fight orthodox. In this game there isn't no consequence for fighting a lefty. I'm circling to my right and the guy isn't counter circling but walking right into my strong hand. To me that's the biggest prob with the game from a style aspect.

Stats are meh no sport game rarely gets them right , but they can control output for boxers some guys are high motor combinations others are stick and move pop pop and out. Some walk you down the whole fight throwing mostly power shots no real jab.

Everything I said should be based on their ratings.

Serious, but these guys are having a hard time implementing them I think.

I don't even know if its an overall career thing in boxing. Look at guys like Hatton, Cotto, Pavlik, etc. Pretty dominating until they reached the high level, then the perception changes. So you can have a fighter with 20 - 30 fights under his belt or even more and still not have a complete story despite them being in the public eye for a few years.

Now evaluating the retired boxers would be alot easier. Just look at their body of work and how they compared to other greats.

Other sports, it may be hard to evaluate the rookies, but they still have measurables to go by like speed, strength, etc as well as how they faired in college. Then the next year the game comes out and you will see how these players did over an entire season and have a much better understanding. Batting averages, FT %, kicking fg %, etc, all balance out over time. There may be ups and downs, but in the end, everything gravitates to the average. In boxing, a fighter may only have 1 match over that same time. Take the Williams v. Martinez fight....Lets say that was there only fight in a year. Does Williams all of a sudden have a glass chin, Does Martinez have the power of the Gods? Maybe....Martinez might KO the next 5 fighters he fights ain under 6 rounds. Williams might be glass Joe. We dion't know. There just isn't enough data on most of the current boxers to know what their ratings truly should be.

I think it is huge!! especially punch rating. It makes the game much more strategic and gives it a much longer lasting appeal.

Fighting against DLH should make me extremely cautious of his left hook.

vs. Tyson- Must stay on the outside

vs Ali using Tyson- stay inside, move head, throw bombs

Now in terms of style, I think even if they are just aesthetic, it makes the game much more entertaining and realistic. I think it would also encourage people to fight with different fighters just to have some variety, rather than the top rated fighters..this is also why I wish more fighters had accurate trunks and gear..just makes the game feel that much more realistic.

I think EA has done a great job this year with the ratings. Just based on the demo, I jab Tyson to death using Ali.

I will probably throw ten jabs in 3 rds using Tyson v Ali

PacMan's left straight and combos are vicious.
I just can't wait to use DLH's powerful left hook, and effective jab. Or see just how good Wright's defense is in the game.
