Why don't they make boxing games like team sport games?

i just don't understand why every boxing game makes you start out with a no-talent/unskilled fighter and gradually build your ratings until you're a world-class fighter. sure, i understand the concept they're going for, but imagine if madden, fifa, or nba 2k did this. what if going through a season in madden meant you had to do training exercises in between games so you could make your WRs run faster. yes, i agree some skill progression needs to take place, but the way it is now seems really unnatural.
also, why is there still no element of unique cornermen in the game? why can't we have different choices of cutmen, trainers, managers, etc.... to choose from? that would have been a nice way to spend money in the game by paying cornermen (the better the cornerman- the higher his fee would be)
i'm considering beginning a legacy on an easier difficulty level and then progressively moving it up in difficulty as i progress higher in the rankings. i think it might balance the career out a little more naturally.

    You're preaching to the choir.
We've all been begging for these options for years now.
Just having a stable of fighters would be awesome. Each guy would have his own set of unique strengths and weaknesses. You as their manager would have to scout opponents and make sure you pitted them against the right guy so as not to derail their careers.
One of your guys might have trouble with left-handers so you'd try to avoid southpaws as much as possible.
Another guy has a glass jaw so you make sure to stay away from some powerful bangers.

Boxing is the best sport to run a franchise mode from. There are way more intangibles than traditional team sports.
In everything from hockey to baseball what's involved? Drafting and trading players and maybe working with a salary cap.
With boxing, you have promoters, trainers, dieticians, strength coaches, cutmen, multiple belts, multiple weight classes, purses, promotions, etc.
Just running one fighters career should be incredibly fun, let alone running an entire gym.

I wouldn't hold your breath that this is going to happen anytime soon though.
EA loves to force online down your throat, so unless your ideas can produce millions in microtransactions such as OWC, forget about it.
They're not going to have their developers waste their time on a deep and complex mode that will not yield them any extra money.

the thing i can't understand is: why don't they think additions like these would add more hype/ more replay value/ and ultimately more games sold? keep the online stuff in the game too. take fifa for example. i think the on field action is fun, the graphics are superb, the commentary is one of the best in sports; but the off-the-field aspect of the game is terrible. why not combine it with a title like Football Manager 2011 and you'd have the best selling game in history. you'd get sim players and casual players both buying and playing the game. it's baffling to me why this can't happen.
i don't know.... i guess i just don't see it from their perspective.
i'm kind of regretting buying FNC after playing it for a few days now. it's fun, but the new features haven't changed the game enough for me to justify the $60 purchase. i should have kept the money and spent it on the Show 11.

Rumor has it that the guys responsible for "Title Bout Championship Boxing" simulator offered to work with the FN crew. They were turned down. In fairness, nobody knows what happened and whether the Title Fight team wanted lots of money, etc. So who know exactly why they were turned away.
But myself, I'd love to see aspects from that sim placed into a console game.
Same with the NHL games. Eastside Manager was terrific and would have helped EA's NHL series immensely.

Speaking of online, how awesome would it be if you could manage a stable of fighters online against other friends gyms?
You could even steal fighters from them if your gym was able to produce more champions or employed better trainers, facilities, etc.

I agree with you that they're completely missing the boat in the sim aspect. It's like they think all of their consumers are 12-year-olds who only like to hit up on XBL and trash talk and one-punch everyone.

Give us more options so those that don't want a WAN connection to play games can enjoy it without Wi-Fi.
I think I'd be in absolute heaven if someone simply took Ring King and mixed it with Title Bout. Talk about a fun Facebook or iPhone app.

Not suprising that they turned down the Title Fight guys. Its EA's way or the highway, it would have never worked out. the Title Fight guys would have been brainwashed into adding a haymaker attribute into their game by the time it was over.

This is the thing I don't understand about EA is that text sims in the 1980's on the Commodore 64 had better stat and sim engines than current EA games. VB with no budget compared to EA had a career mode with hundreds of boxers per weight class. You COULD fight a young boxer with great skills. You could even watch videos of potential opponents to see what skills and style they have before you book the fight. No excuse for this.

Have you bought this game yet?

No I haven't. I've been tempted because I love boxing. But I refuse to pay $60 for a game that will collect dust once I get bored of the Legacy Mode in a week.
I'm going to wait until it's cheaper. There are quite a few games out (or coming out) that will keep my interest until the price drop happens.
            You?

P.S. Just reading about VB2 again really makes me want to buy a PSP. I've heard that there's more English content and it has all the career mode components of VB2 for the PS2.
            Is that true?

Thats what I hear. Injuries and the whole shabang. You could probably get a used PSP for the price of Fight Night Prizefighter II.

I am sure I'll get the game at some point, but no need to go out and make a rash purchase when I know it will get cheaper and will probably get patched at some point.

Wow! You're not kidding! I just found one used for $80.
I'm going to do more research on VB for the PSP. If it's in mostly English (or at least not too much Japanese) I might dive in.

                Thanks Fist!

And you can Boxers road shipped to your house for $35.

I honestly don't think its the answer. The answer is for EA to take the best features from Boxers road, and the sim aspect from Title Bout and apply it with their in ring gameplay. But don't hold your breath.

There is no way in hell those guys asked for a lot of money. They barely make any money off "Title Bout" if they make any at all. I'm sure they are passionate boxing fans just trying to help make a better game.

Lack of innovation/thinking outside the box for starters.
