I was schooling this guy...and then BAM

It was in MW Ranked, I had Hagler and he had Leonard. Well apparently Leonard has a 20 rated hook, because Hagler got 1pko'd. I couldn't believe it. Leonard NEVER had the power to 1 hit Hagler. Here's the stats...

    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"><tbody><tr><td style="padding-bottom: 10px; padding-left: 20px;" width="423" height="20">Player Report:</td> </tr> <tr> <td width="423" height="22"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td width="200"></td> <td width="95">Blue Corner</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="16">vs</td> <td align="right" width="112">Red Corner</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Name:</td> <td align="right" width="100">WarSooie</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143">brendy_wr</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Skill Level:</td> <td align="right" width="100">2</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143"> 2</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Gym:</td> <td align="right" width="100">Operations Sports</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143">Champions UK</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Country:</td> <td align="right" width="100">United States</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143">United Kingdom</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Result:</td> <td align="right" width="100">Loss</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143">Win</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Time:</td> <td align="right" width="100">4:17</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143">4:17</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="28"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="182">Ranking Points Summary:</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Current Skill Level:</td> <td align="right" width="100">2</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143">2</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Skill Points Earned:</td> <td align="right" width="100">-40</td> <td style="padding-right: 10px;" align="right" width="143">40</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(189, 189, 187);" width="423" height="24"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="423"> <tbody><tr> <td style="padding-left: 20px;" width="180">Reliability Rating:</td> <td align="right" width="100">

Haglar was never stopped in his career and he only had 1 knockdown against him. And if you watched that knockdown, it was a slip and was incorrectly ruled a knockdown.

This is a typical EA issue. They add something new like one-punch KO but don't really explore it's ramifications.
If you add one-punch KO, then you need to add 'iron chin'. You needed a bat to stop guys like Haglar or Chuvalo. But in FNC, everybody can be 1-punched.

Or at the very least, one-punch prowess should be based on individual punches, not ALL punches.
So someone like Ali can't flash stop with a jab. You would have to land your top punch to put someone to sleep (or it's very rare to do with with a non 20/20 punch).

While I agree with most of what you are saying, I think everyone should be able to be 1 punched KO with a perfect punch. Take that Sergio Martinez punch on Paul Williams. It was dead nuts on the screws. I wouldn't say that Martinez has the greatest power in the world, but that punch would have knocked anybody out including Hagler.

I agree with this. Unfortunately the game does not have the collision detection required for this. Well, the problem is the game takes glancing blows and registers them as flush shots.

In a perfect world, the only punches that could 1 punch KO you are vicious shots right on the Jaw and then those rare ones on the temple.

I agree Vast and will add a solid body shot. I think one punch KOs are welcome in FNC but like many things the game implements, it has its shortcomings. I like them and am glad they aren't always there but I'm very aware they can happen at any time so I try and fight cautiously.

I've was 1 punched 3 times in one night!!! I was winning all 3. Once with a bodyshot & once Tyson knocked hour Holyfield with an average punch. It's a good feature but seems like it needs tuning.

That one was one of two in 15 minutes! I had Hagler vs. Bishop and was working him over even more. 1.30 into Rnd 1 Lights Out!

I just fought a Hagler who's main strategy was to jab to the body. My strategy was to uncork power uppercuts to the head to neutralize him and although I landed over 100 of them to the head at a 51% connect rate Hagler was unfazed and the jabs seem to count more than the uppercuts scoring wise.

Yeah, they do because the jab breaks down the guard way too fast in the game. You will see it in the jab spam to the body and in the jab spam to the head while stunned when you play online.

After getting 1 punched again with a min left in the fight, I realize slot of the problem is my attitude. I'm not used to boxing in the game with any sense of fear. On FN4, once I solved a guy's style, I knew I could cruise to a late ko or decision. I was never in danger. I had a few late night fights where I boxed with my eyes partially closed! Just following a pattern. I need to change my approach. Slot obviously lol!!

When I first started playing the game, I too was came out very aggressive in the fight.Of course then I kept picking myself up off of the floor very early in the fight and learned that this game MAKES you actually box. Definitely a huge upgrade in the FN series.

Re: I was schooling this guy...and then BAM

Problem with the KOs like everyone said is the fact that EVERYONE is capable of being KO'ed with one punch, and everyone is capable of knocking someone out with one punch. In real life, that simply isn't the case. A dude like Hagler who has never touched canvas should NEVER be in a position where he is knocked out with one punch...ESPECIALLY late in the fight when his opponent is gassed.

I feel like some boxers who are one punch KO artists (Tyson, Foreman, etc) should not have knock out power late in the fight when their stamina is diminished....BUT, they should have the ability to stun and hurt you to the point where your HUD turns red...even if it makes your health low and u need an extra punch to finish them off. True enough, an Ali type of fighter did knock out Foreman with a combo, but Ali was still fresh in that fight while Foreman was exhausted, so it evens it out. If Ali was tired, he should be incapable of even stunning his opponent in the late rounds (as what made Ali great was his supreme condition).

I really would like it if it were possible to knock someone out in the late rounds (without them being knocked down in previous rounds) and make it impossible for them to get up due to being beaten the entire fight or being tired, but for some reason, I think this would be impossible to patch and they seem to like making guys get up at least once after the first knock down. I also would like it if certain knock downs are easy to get up from (slips) and others leave you hurt...but like I said, maybe next year...sigh...

I think the flash KO needs to be toned down, many of them should be simple flash knock downs instead. Especially online, guys with that kind of power are rare so the one hitter quitters should also be rare.

That body jab is a know exploit.. only a cheeser will use that..Legit gyms should ban this punch. EA should attempt to reduce it's effect.
