I Finally Won My First Decision in OWC!

It was an **** war. I was showing my friend my CAB and OWC and he was getting impatient with me as I was trying to find an easy matchup. Finally, I brought up a screen and there was this guy who was rated only one point below me and my friend said, "Ah, come on. Fight him." Even though I didn't really want to, I took his advice and fought the guy. As it turns out, my opponent was really good and he floored me in the first round. I thought, "Oh crap. I shouldn't have chosen this match. Now I am going to get destroyed in the first round." I knew because the other fighter was rated pretty high that he probably had max power in both fists. I also knew that I never am able to get up after a second knockdown (even though I have max heart) so I had to stick and move and use sound boxing skills to survive. After the somehow making it out of the first round, I started to notice that there were countering opportunities and that my opponent was leaving himself wide open. I ended up winning the third and noticing my opponent was wearing down. However, he was still a power puncher and still very dangerous so I tried to be cautious and not leave myself open. As you might expect, I was stunned several more times in the fight and close to going down, but I barely managed to block and recover and live to fight another day. Slowly and surely, I was turning the fight around with counter punching and defense. By the seventh round, I finally stunned him and then I went for broke and knocked him down after a barrage of punches. In the eighth round I scored another knockdown and really started to swing the score back in my favor. I was still uncertain as to whether I could pull it out or not because I knew I was only up by a point or so and that there were two rounds left. I also knew that unless I score a knockdown I usually do not win a round because I look for counters and often get outworked.

By the tenth round, I am thinking that I need a knockout to win and that he probably came back in the 9th round and has a slight edge. I go for broke and land over 20 power punches in the final round and counter him to death. The round was an all out war and before I knew it the final bell had sounded and I thought, "Great. I missed my chance to finish him off. Now it's time to lose another decision." You can imagine my shock when the ring announcer said that I was a winner by unanimous decision. I won the fight by UD and I won it by one point on all three judges scorecards! As it turned out, the fight was dead even heading into the tenth and final round and whoever won that last round would win the fight. I guess that's a good reason why you should always fight until the final bell! If I had not landed all those power punches and been aggressive and gone forward, I would have lost. It feels so good to win a decision finally!

My wife and friend congratulated me after the win. They said that my face looked so intense going into that final round. LOL. Now, I am 37-2 and back to my winning ways after losing to iDerity for the Light Weight World Championship.

I think I might have Nintendoitis too! Ha. Thanks for all who took the time to read this and share in my experience.

Did your wife watch the whole fight? Man, my gf can't stand gaming lol...

And if I was your friend I would've at least scabbed a round or two.

Nice story by the way, I bet that was more satisfying than most of the KO's
...we held several meetings to discuss the future of the franchise. After going through those meetings, it became very clear that the vision I had for the game was different from where the leadership wanted to take it. I parted ways with EA shortly after...

Thanks guys! And you're right, eye guy. That decision win was singlehandedly more satisfying than all of my KO wins. :-)

And yes, my wife and friend watched the whole fight. They said it was intense. I have good friends! :-)
