    Online Questions

Well, I broke down and fought some matches online last night. First I boxed as Ali and fought another Ali to get my feet wet, I Ko'd him in 8. SO I thought this isn't bad and created my own boxer and fought 15 fights and went 11-4.

    My questions are:
    1. Is it possible to see your opponents record before you fight? I saw the overall rating, but not the record.
    2. Does your stength, speed, endurance, etc rise as you get more fights and wins under your belt?
    3. How long do you think it would take to get a 90 overall rating. AFter 15 fights and applying the experience, I'm still rated the same.
    4. Is there any other ways to gety XP besides just fighting and the EA steroid packs? Can you take your guy offline and train?

No. Not in head to head. You can see their record in OWC after the match has started. Last year you could see records, but the top guys were ducking decent fighters and bum/rookie hunting.

    2. Does your stength, speed, endurance, etc rise as you get more fights and wins under your belt?

Your athletics do not change in OWC unless you get the boosts. You can get several just by playing through legacy. They do help. Some you have to fight online and get or buy.

    3. How long do you think it would take to get a 90 overall rating. AFter 15 fights and applying the experience, I'm still rated the same.

Without all of the gold boosts you can't become a 90. I think the max with the legacy boosts is about 88. Depending on the type of fighter you get (Conventional, Counter Puncher, etc.) some are quicker than others. Brawlers have a cheap XP cost on all hooks and uppercuts. Counter punchers have cheap costs on jab, straights, uppercuts, combos, chin, heart and blocking. Either of these won't take too long to max a couple of areas within ten-twenty fights or so.

    4. Is there any other ways to gety XP besides just fighting and the EA steroid packs?

Get into an active gym and spar, spar, spar. In doing so you don't have to buy XP.

Can you take your guy offline and train?

No, and it really sucks, but if they allowed it EA knows people would just set the AI to Amateur and do it that way.
I am not going to lie, I got the XP packs (though the console froze and I lost 50,000 XP fromm my HW OWC fighter once, still emailing EA and the devs over this to get remuneration). I was tired of outboxing someone aonly to get KO'd whenever they felt like it. Once I did I was destroying a bunch of one trick pony spammers who couldn't hit water if they fell out a boat.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response. So if you get into a gym and spar, you can get those XP? I will have to do that.

When I pre-ordered from Gamestop I got the 25,000XP steroid pack for free. I was going to avoid online because I didn't feel like chowing on cheezewiz. But I had the pack, so what the heck. I created a Gerry Cooney HW, 6'6" 81 inch reach which were his real stats. I got caught a couple times, but overall, spammers don't have a chance.

I am rated 83, and I fought all takers, there wasn't a single opponent I didn't knock down, even the guys in the 90's, except for 1 guy who caught me in the 4th with a flash KO but I was up 3 rounds to 0 in that fight.

Overall if you box like you are supposed to, lead with the jab, circle away from their powerhand, most of these people online don't stand a chance. Infact I am not sure how some of these people ever even got a win. Like the guy who punched me below the belt twice then backe up to the ropes and taunted me by tapping his chin. I jsut walked up to him while he was still tapping his chin and kocked him through the ropes with a straight right hand. Fight over. Or Some Giant Paul Bunyon guy Who threw 8 hook HAymakers in a row until he couldn't swing then I step in, power punch to the chin, game over.

I have to admit I had maybe 4 fights that felt like real boxing out of 15, but its alot more enetertaining than I thought beating up on these tomato cans who don't know a lick about boxing.

Yeah, it is satisfying to pound someone who knows better, to put it mildly. At least this year we have the tools to fight moronic devices such as the body spam jab. It's in effect big time since the patch, though the accuracy is way down. With Hagler in ranked vs. some dufus who threw 500 jabs to my gut with Hearns, I knocked him down twice, threw half the punches and in the ninth when I had a good lead I returned the favor for 30 seconds.

What's funny is it made him madder and he did it more. Not long after it was a backstep straight to the face. With Hearn's chin I am surprised he got up.

This year you can box your way to victory for the most part, thankfully.

So whats the breakdown of the online modes?

OWC is where you create your boxer and try to rise the ladder.

What does ranked do? Like when I fought as a lisenced boxer aginst another licensed boxer? Is there another ranking system for that?

yeah, ranked is licensed fighters only and the champion mode guys. Unranked is any and all of the above.

So what does ranked do, is there a ladder or championship for that. I'm 1-0 in ranked.

A ladder, that's about it. OWC has different belts, one for country, one for world and one for KO King.

How do you get in the mix to fight for a championship belt? Do you have to reach a certain ranking? Does the champ need to fight mandatory opponents? How often does a champ have to defend?

Good question. Most champs are duckers and only defend agaonst those with a lower overall.

But how do you even get in the mix for that? Or does it just come up as random when you go to fight in the OWC. Does it show the champion as having a belt or anything.

I have been backing out of the fights against 90+ rated guys, but if it was a champion, I'd take the fight.

Some of it is random. RoughTactics, a very good sim fighter, was matches up in his third or fourth fight as a MW vs. the champ. Rough had a 78 fighter, the champ a 90. Rough simmed him to death, taking the title. That makes it seem more random to me.

If the champ doesn't defend it so many times a week I believe it's taken away. Either that or your Average Online Opponent has to stay above a certain number. I am 7 or 8 and 2 with almost 800 points, so I am not yet sniffing the top 100 at HW. I just don't have the time. I will start a LW career soon, I hear those are straight squabs and brawls.

I was beating a 91 fighter last night and got dropped with a flash KO in the 8th. I've got 20 power in my straight right and 18 in my jab. So I can box with anybody unless I get caught. Its a pretty easy strategy. ZFind out wheare their power punch is coming from. Circle way from it while popping the jab. They get frustrated after repeatedly getting 4 jabs in their face, I step back, they miss with the haymaker, and Boom goes the dynamite. I knocked down everybody I faced in 15 fights except for 1 guy and he got in a lucky punch in the 4th despite being down 3 rounds on all the cards.

I don't know if you've played with the new patch yet but that used to be my strategy before the patch but that recipe is a bit more difficult now. Then it could be me. lol, but it was working like a champ before.
