EA needs to revamp the Knockdown/get up system

Some knockdowns should keep the guy down for the count of 10 regardless if its the 1st or 5th time being knocked down.

I think putting the guy to sleep 1 punch KO should be fairly rare. I think a guy staying down for the count of 10 on the 1st time he gets knocked down should be relatively common.

Currently, if you get knocked down for the 1st time, you are up at 2. Doesn't really matter what state you are in or what type of punch you took, you'll get up the 1st time. 2nd time, is still just as easy, 3rd a little harder, etc. Thats so 1990's arcadey, I could scream.

So imagine you are stunned and taking a beating and trying to stay up, maybe you would be better just taking a knee so you can get up at 8 on your own accord instead of being unloaded upon while you are in a bumbling weakened state. Currently you don't have to worry, you'll get up at 2 no matter if they knock you down with a vicious hook or push you over with a jab.

Some knockdowns hit you so hard that you get back up at 9, but you are still stunned. If you can't/don't fight back the ref may come in, but if you do fight back and get caught right away you may be down for good. You could see the ref start to creep closer if you aren't fighting back.

Right now if you get up at 9, its like you took a nice long nap and you are refreshed and can't start fighting again.

This would add alot of suspense to the game.

I agree completely. You make a good point about it being 1990's arcadey. This is something they inherited from the previous dev team and I honestly believe it will be addressed in future versions.

Also, with online fights I'd like to see the get up from my perspective.

Agreed on all points. What i really liked about the first Fight Night was that the more punishment you took on the way down. The harder it was to get back up.

They definitely need to just have 1 punch ko's where its just impossible to get up from. Equivalent to getting knocked down for the 5th time. How hard would that be to implement??

I was just thinking about this. I had a guy using Joe Louis winded as all hell knocked down for the 3rd time in the 9th and he got up by 6 or 7. He should never been able to come close to getting up.

This is exactly what I tell the different devs for years. The system should be "impact" based. If I ***ch you off guard but don't really hurt the opponent, he should be abe to get up fairly easy. However if it's a heavy shot, he should at least struggle for an 8 count and be stunned afterwards. Being stunned right after a knockdown I think is really missing in the game. Most of the time if the opponent gets up, he is so heavily hurt that it will only take 1-2 good shots for sendin him on the canvas again

I fought a guy last night and he got up 4 times like it was a walk in the park. On the fourth time he even taunted me..lol It was like trying to slay Jason Vorhees. That 5th knockdown though sealed it.

That's where Fist makes a good point on it being arcadey. You go into every fight with the idea that you can either KO them or they have 4 chances to get up. And now the KO seems to be gone so it's just the knockdowns. They just need to balance out the physics of a knockdown and what type of animation constitutes an easier get up than another. Have a guy go to one knee etc. And jump up. They need the standing 8 count too.

I think the whole thing should be automated in any case. The severity of the knockout/down should be a mix of many factors. What position you're in when you get the hit, how flush, how much juice you had, how much juice did the boxer have when he threw it, your strength, his etc. etc.

And let the CPU get up. That get up mini game is lame in every way possible.
