Where does the line cross between Smart Boxing & Body Spamming???

Now, I am the type of gamer who likes to play as sim as possible... but I also try to win..

Sometimes I am forced to go to the body online for this reason

The body gives me much more efficient boxing against players who constantly lean there head back & try to counter instead of moving to protect the body...

I have played a few fighters that might be labeled "body spammers"

but I found the way to beat them is to throw jabs at the head and out maneuver them

so what exactly is a "body spammer"?

If you crouch down and throw more than 2 jabs to the body at a time, You are probably a spammer by definition.

Sometimes guys come at me with earmuffs on, so I will jab their body repeatedly until they lower their guard. I played a guy the other night who leand against the ropes with his guard up the whole fight, so I think I hit him to the body over 400 times. Did I spam the body? Of course. But there wasn't a way to realistically box the guy, so its on him.

Ideally if someone is doing the lean, to be legit yourself, hit them with 2 jabs to the body and then a 1-2 up top, they should all land and no one can call you a cheeser.

If you are fighting a 6'8" 88" reach guy, all bets are off, just do what you have to do to beat these clowns. If they continually block their face and spam the jab, go downstairs.

I fight realitically with someone who fights realistic, the other times, I'm guilty of fighting fire with fire. It will be that way until EA addresses the fact that body jabbing is a viable winning tactic.

I rarely throw body jabs... I throw mostly hooks since they do more damage... I try to tire my opponent out & earn points...so I can finish him off around round 7 or so since he chooses to throw power punches and counter, instead of protecting himself..

Around Round 7 I go into counter mode to finish him off...

The new cheese of the week is the Wee Man speed boxer. They don't seem to tire and they get under your guard and spam the jab into your thight while they are surrounded by an invisible halo of protection.

I normally let the spammers tire themselves out, because bottom line, this game weighs highly on connect % so if you make them miss and land at a high connect % you will win rounds even with less punches scored and then like you said they tire out and you can go for the kill. But wee man didn't tire and he didn't miss. I guess I don't have the stick skills to get away from him so its on me.....but dang its an annoying way to spend a 1/2 hour when all you want to do is have a little fun at the end of a day.

I see what you are saying and I really don't think we would be stooping to their level if we took advantage of their stupidity. An fighter's corner would tell him to counter what his opponent is doing. It's the user's fault for play like a fool.

Body jab spamming has officially killed OWC for me.

The funny part to me is pre patch this was a small problem. now it seems to be the way to cheese for a win....... those 1pko's would give warning to those who risk their chin to lean forward to spam at the body.. i hope some how that gets rectified ... however i do like the new patch .. i just dont want to keep fighting everyone the same way..

Are we surprised though? The way to win post patch was to throw an insane amount of power punches. They fixed that and now the jab works for a small few. If you think about it, even the crazy amount of power punches worked for just a few.

You can't fault EA for trying to fix a problem. Yes, another one has creeped up, but that is the nature of the beast when it comes to playing online.

Thats really the issue, the Players needed patching more than the game did. Its more of a human behavrial issue than a game issue.

If they would have just had a huge stamina drain from a missed modified power punch, people would have probably just boxed.

I think as long as you mix it up body & head you're ok. Occasional jabs to the body are ok to score points but I'm talking single jabs. Just attacking the body & ignoring the head is spam to me. Funny story. I fought a guy & was winning until the 7th when he went to the body jab attack. I lose the fight. I write him & say "Great fight but I hate that body jab trick. It stinks! " He writes back "Yeah. You're right." This guy was decent too. He didn't need that stuff. He just went to it went he started to lose control of the fight.

I run across a few fighters who do the lean back guard up move where you can keep your guard up, send out a jab or whatever and instantly go back to the lean/guard position. In my eyes that's really no better than a jab body spammer. And to be honest the only thing to get them out of that IS jabbing the body.

I just beat a Brit who was ranked in the Top 100 H2H, using Keyshawn Hayes against his Sugar Ray Leonard. Afterwards he complained about "typical Americans" who "body punch" all the time. This guy was constantly moving his head, pressing the action to take away my reach advantage and I'd back up and throw a double jab or jab-right cross to the body.

Certainly nothing wrong with a double jab. If fighters with shorter reaches want to walk into it all the time or neglect their blocking by being so offensive minded that's on them.
