Change Of Heart Regarding My Opinion On Stamina

After about 10 fights now in OWC, I can say with all confidence that stamina is not broken. The one thing you must not do is get caught up in what the stamina bar is looking like throughout the fight. That only tells a small part of the story. The proof is in the action...well actions of the boxers. I have fought dudes who have come out and just throw insanely high numbers of punches and by the 4th or 5th round they are done...toast...just waiting to be knocked out. In my last two fights, I have fought dudes who came out and threw a lot of punches and I took them in the deep waters. By the 8th and 9th round they were using the Bonecrusher Smith gameplan...hold and hold some more. It was actually funny to see dudes do that. You may not be able to tell what their stamina is regarding the bar. But, you can tell when their punches slow down...they lose power and they move slow. It has definitely grown on me and I love it.

PS...Dave Gamboa wants another piece of Chico ese'!!!!

im happy for you guys that are enjoying this latest tuner but i am so saddened by the state of this game that i cant believe i defended it for so long

hooks really are worthless, whats the point in throwing them? im fighting guys now that throw 1000+ punches and less than 100 of those are hooks, most of them jabs or straights. is this what boxing is?

i took a break from playing and these forums for a minute and decided tonight to give it another shot but theres no way i can get down with what this game is now. for all its faults, the gold version of this game was wonderful. any scrubs using whats working in this version of the game got wrecked over and over but now its a total crap shoot. i still have no idea what im supposed to be doing in this version because nothing works for me consistently. and no, i was never a body spammer or played with mega cabs, or spammed right modified crosses.

ive never gotten upset over a game but to see what we had and to see what we have now really f-ing irks me

I agree with you. The stamina bar just doesn't show you all that's going on. I think health also plays a big role. Maybe the counter punch too. Yes, they are throwing insane amounts of power shots, and if they land early you can get caught, but it's not that hard to avoid them. And if you get them to round 5, things start unraveling fast.

lol..we definitely have to fight again.

Just rented this so I'm not even sure if it's going to be a big deal for me if I don't end up liking the game, but is there a way to download the tuner sets with a flash drive for PS3?

I haven't seen a 1 punch KO since the first tuner and patch came out. As far as damage goes...I see cuts, puffiness in the face and red marks from where you get tattooed! But, nothing that you would see if you were fighting bareknuckles style or what you saw pre-patch/tuner. I also saw something I never saw before....accidental headbutt! I was fighting this guy and we both leaned in to punch and our heads butted. I thought that was cool!!!

On top of that the game doesn't have enough decisions as is, when today that's the way most fights are going when featuring two top level fighters.

If we want a sim, then more emphasis needs to be placed on patience and wearing a guy down by out boxing them. One punch KO's is just stuff for the highlight reel, and doesn't do much to make a complete boxing sim.
You've never seen RJJ KTFO by one punch? Even though it's happened basically every other fight since he fought Glen Johnson? One punch KO's aren't common, but they definitely happen, from Dempsey knocking out Tunney (bull**** long count) to Louis over Conn to Liston over Patterson to Tyson over Spinks. Definitely not that rare.

I get the occasional cut, but nothing like before. No 1 punch KOs either. Seems the first patch removed it and toned down the cuts.

No one gets hurt as much as Max Schmeling in his second Louis fight. Even that one was not a 1pko.

Don't forget De La Hoya/Hopkins. 1pko's should be VERY rare, but they should be in the game. Maybe 1 out of every 40 fights or something. They should also only be on clean shots to the temple, jaw, or liver like someone else said.

That was brutal. Joe was focused on avoiding the right hand leads that lead to his getting KOed in their first fight and then unleashed a savage attack against Max.

I really think the game plays fairly well right now. The overall factor for me is that the power straight is far too powerful and stuns too easily. I fought a guy last night that would use it as his main punch and while he got tired, it was too easy for him to stun me and then go for the knockdown. If they can lower that punches impact we'd see a more balanced game.
