Tilllis certainly gave Tyson a handful that night.
I still thought Tyson won as he was the aggressor and landed the bigger shots.

Tillis also needs to remember he was fighting a kid that didn't have the legal right to drink.
As exciting and destructive as Tyson was back then, he was still 19 and just starting to fight some of the top guys. He was still learning.

Does anyone really believe that the Tyson from his Spinks fight would have had a hard time with a prime Tillis or even Mitch "Blood" Green?
    I doubt it.

Just watched that fight and while I'm no boxing expert I don't see where this claim Tillis has that Tyson won 2 and he won 8. I thought he won at least 3 in the first 4 with the other being a tie. Overall I tend to agree with 2 of the judges who gave it 6-4 Tyson.

Tyson also looked a lot different than some of the other espn classic fights I've seen him in that I guess were a little bit later. He didn't look quite as fluid or as skilled than in the slightly newer ones.

Its hard to judge a prime Tyson from the Spinks fight in that Spinks wasn't even a legit heavyweight. the Tyson that lost to Buster Douglass most likely could have beat Spinks... However I do agree that since I believe Rooney was still w/him that you have to consider it prime era

Watching this fight is about as close as one can get to having an idea of how Ali would've looked vs Tyson. Surprisingly, Tillis displayed similar movement and over style to Ali. Ali would obviously have more speed, power, chin and overall savvy. i just thought it interesting while watching Tillis/Tyson.....you can almost suspend belief and see Ali in there
