There has to be some type of penalty for throwing excessive amounts of punches. Hit or miss. Like Matt said, if someone goes insane the first few rounds, but can't close it out, by the fourth round, there should me such a drop in stamina that you can then turn the tables.

But it's a mixed bag because you can throw a lot of punches with little consequence, but at the same time, a lot of punches landing flush don't take a guy down as fast as they should. You can't solve that by just reducing connection percentage.

There has to be higher damage on connected punches with higher stamina drop for hit or miss punches thrown.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Completely agree. whiffed punches especially, hitting nothing but air with a few power shots takes the wind out of your sails rather quickly in real life, even if you are in pretty good shape.

Stamina and working sliders would help this game a lot. Better footwork and more differing fight styles would help a lot. Whoever brought up Foreman and Tyson fighting alike was dead on. For single player I want to see fighters coming at different angles, throwing different volumes of punches, different combos of punches, setting traps.

And for the love of God how hard is it to stagger opponents in career mode. Instead of all the boxers in the game appearing from the start why not have a Frazier or Tyson rise up through the ranks half way through a career. As is by the time you make it close to being a champion half of the established boxers are already retiring or have 15-20 losses to their name.

They have to find a better, more intuitive way to defend against body punches.

Definitely. It's like you get sucked in and it's hard to pull away. The jab could help doesn't back a guy off and trying to escape the body puncher makes you lose stamina. Meanwhile, thye can throw 8-10 body shots and it's a walk in the park.

. . .if you like mma. But if you want a boxing game sadly FNC is the only choice.

I'm a boxing fan but fight night don't deliver a true boxing experiance and surprisingly UFC does. I don't mess with any of that stuff on the ground other than defense. It's more fun to box on UFC than fight night, it's not arcade. I can use angles, step, duck, bob & weave, counter, fight in the clinch, all the things that are in boxing but it all works better in UFC's game than fight night. You should give it a try until EA gives us a simulation instead of giving us fake fighters and trying to pass it as sim. I miss my boxing but I've got to get my fight fix. Lol

That's a good point about fighting in the clinch.

There is going to have to be a decision though that involves a different philosophy in the game's design. For many years it was the inclusion of the big time fighters (Ali etc.) But that got old and they needed something different. So they went to Champion mode.

The conclusion was never, "Let's make this game as realistic to boxing as possible and let that be the seller." Instead, they gave a sports game a twist by adding a short story mode.

I love boxing, but UFC 3 is way more realistic than fight night champion!

Fight Night Champion is a great game, IMO. They messed it up with the tuner sets and the patches, which changed the game into a non-realistic arcady slugfest online, and for some reason removed most of the damage to fighters faces. The original game, out of the box, plays better than the one now post-patches, even if it wasn't a perfect simulation of the sport.

The single player is solid, the career mode is decent, and the download boxer option is great. I would say it's the best boxing game of all-time, but how they changed it for online play really turned me off, and I haven't played much since. I like the controls a lot, and there is a lot of depth to the gameplay in the ring. It should've been hailed as a greater game, but they messed it up by trying to please everyone online. When the game came out, the reviews were as good as any Undisputed UFC game - it was an 85 in metacritic.

Obviously it's a different game than any UFC game, but to me it comes down to, do you like the history of boxing? I appreciate being able to fight with all-time greats. In UFC, you're fighting with bums a lot of the time. Let's face it, those guys don't get paid like boxers and the roster for FNC is simply at another level as far as great athletes when you compare it to anything UFC can offer. There are all sorts of fighters on the FNC roster, and the boxershare is simply awesome.

I'll take boxing over MMA every day of the week and twice on Sundays, but I'll take a "pure striking" version of the new UFC game over FNC regardless of the roster.

Unless I'm missing something here wasn't the CPU versus Human severely flawed because the CPU stamina drained so much more rapidly? Even when I limited some of the CPU bouts to less rounds I found it boring.

Early game reviews for all the Fight night series don't mean much because the reviewers usually don't have a clue.
