I never understood why fighters never go to the body when they have a speed disadantage?

Macklin could pull off the upset here. That was a KD.

I love watching S-Mart. When's the last time you saw a guy who routinely took guys out late in fights? He's got amazing stamina and power in the championship rounds.

It seems that KD really woke him up. He completely dominated Macklin from round 8 on.
And I don't think Mack has much power after that either. Martinez seemed to throw more caution to the wind and was willing to take a shot to give one.

Great win for S-Mart. Now bring on Chavez, Alverez, etc!

P.S. What was the one judge, Julie Merchant thinking? She had it 103-103 AFTER the 10-7 11th round???
She basically gave Macklin 6 of the first 7 rounds.
Martinez didn't look sharp in those first 7, but I certainly thought he took at least 3 of those rounds.
The 105-101 scores from the other two judges seemed more accurate.

BTW, who was the brunette sitting with Macklin's family??
She had the very form-fitting beige, patterned dress on. Yow!

Always love watching Martinez work. He's so unorthodox and makes it look so easy.

His hands are at his knees...it's crazy to me.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

The dude's a freak, no doubt about it.
What's nuts is that he admits he's a natural jr.middleweight and yet he's still knocking guys out in a heavier division.
I understand why he fights at 160 though, nobody would go near him at 154.
He would obliterate anyone at that weight.

The one thing that was a bit troubling was how easily Macklin was able to score with a lead-right for the first half of the fight.
And some of those seemed to buzz Martinez at the beginning. As Macklin lost steam (which appears to be a problem for him), I don't think those shots had as much pop so Martinez felt more comfortable engaging.

Martinez reminds me of Joe Calzaughe. He don't throw endless punching combos but he holds his hands low like he's toying with a guy and never seems to get tired.

Macklin acquitted himself nicely...Not sure if Martinez is just getting bored or what, but Macklin definitely got to him in the early rounds. It was a rout in the end, but still...maybe some cracks in the foundation?

                          I wonder too.
But I think this is a case of Martinez simply being bored and looking past Macklin.
When Macklin scored that 'knockdown', it woke him up and it was all Sergio.

Nobody between 150-160 can touch S-Mart right now.
