Floyd Mayweather Signs Deal With ShowtimePPV/CBS
According to Dan Rafeals twitter Floyd Mayweather has signed a record breaking deal with Showtime and CBS. No more HBO for Floyd. Floyd was part of the original 24/7 when he fought De La Hoya. Does this put Showtime over HBO ?

To be honest, I have no idea which fighters are even aligned with which networks; I scan the listings a few days in advance to see if there's a fight I want to watch (anywhere on TV), and then either DVR it or catch it live if I happen to be in front of the tube. But it makes no difference to me who is with what network, other than I like to see Buffer do the intros (not that Jimmy Lennon is bad or anything, just preference) and I can watch HBO again with the sound on since Larry Merchant retired (although I still really can't stand Lampley...). -
The deal states he will fight 5-6 times in 30 months. That's about 2 fights per year. Seems somewhat optimistic

Six past-primed fighters in two and a half years? That sounds grueling.Comment

Mayweather is past his prime? What, he is still a top defensive fighter who has a (suspect) KO over a younger, "stronger" David Ortiz. What is past its prime is the hopes of a Mayweather/Pacquio fight happening. There is still a tone of money to be made on and by Floyd Mayweather.Moderator

Hmmmm...Canelo Alvarez/Trout on the undercard looks promising.
Minor note. I know many on this forum will disregard anything Steven A Smith and/or Skip Bayless says but I found it interesting last week when Smith suggested that Floyd didn't want any of Canelo Alvarez. He said that "boy is big". All the more interesting because he just got off the phone with Mayweather earlier that morning to discuss the Showtime deal.Comment

Re: Floyd Mayweather Signs Deal With ShowtimePPV/CBS
I love Floyd but there is no way in hell he wants to face Alvarez. Alvarez is a real threat to his 0 in the loss column. For all the love I have for Floyd I am not fooled into thinking he has always taken the toughest fights. He is a phenominal defensive fighter but he never really fought guys that could hurt him. De La Hoya being the biggest threat he has faces since Castillo 2.Moderator

So are you saying that Mayweather is the only reason the fight didn't happen? I really hope not.Moderator

I think Bob Arum played a big role in that fight not happening. Just like we all know Bob Arum played a role in Bradley getting a decision over Pacman. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Jim Lampley was saying that this is only a 1 fight deal and Mayweather has the option to keep it going but can stop after one fight. I knew there was something off with this deal.Comment
