I agree w/ this. I'm not sure how pumped up I'd be to see Kessler-Froch 3, especially after this fight where 1 fighter is clearly still on the upward part of his curve and the other is clearly on the downside. Other than that one shot, it seemed Kessler couldn't hurt Froch at all, and he probably isn't going to get any stronger going forward. He's getting up there in age and definitely in ring years, and as the old saying goes, once you start talking about retirement, you're already retired.

Not to change the subject but after taking a good look at Froch... I think he could pass for Tim Tebow's older more grungy/rowdy brother.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl Froch II
Also not to change the subject (too badly), but watching this fight made me realize how much I DON'T miss having to listen to Jim Lampley when I watch fights on Showtime. I kinda like Kellerman, who's very knowledgeable and not overly intrusive, and I've always got a soft spot for ol' Harold Lederman (although I'm sad he doesn't do the "rules of the bout" any more before the fights..."..a fighter can NOT be saved in any round, including the 12th, and FINAL, round. JIM!!!!!"). Now that Merchant is gone, Lampley is a bit more tolerable, but still...I never thought I'd prefer the ShoBox crew to the HBO crew, but it's getting to that point.Comment

Showtime is right up there at the top, their graphics have improved tremendously and their entire production is much better than it used to be. The Cotto Marguritto fight I believe was the one that I took notice and was very impressed.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl Froch II
His interview skills are also just so good, he can really feel it out and even adjusts his demeanour a bit to relate and get the best out of the person.
If he is listening to you, he's also a great listener. I was shocked when I was giving him instructions I could see him shut down and actually bite his nails! it's like a switch goes off and he's mawing on his nails and nothing else on the planet is going on.
He's also very good at working a room and skilled in the art of conversation, but I have a suspicion that he's a little like me (or more so) in that it takes a lot out of him and that he's a little introverted.
It was a pleasure to meet him and work with him - it's funny I think he also really lives in the 'now' in some respects because I kind of doubt he would remember me if we bumped into eachother - I would have to be a boxer, or a friend or something more than our interaction; which is the opposite of me - If I worked with someone in a VERY significant way I most likely would never forget it.
Anyway I hope to meet him again and pick his brain. He's got a great disposition.
edit* had to look up Avuncular - perfect word.
Adjective; Of or relating to an uncle.
Kind and friendly toward a younger or less experienced person: "an avuncular manner". That's me! He knows I haven't been doing this for over a decade and also was more than happy to give kind but respectful suggestions and they way he deals with very young fighters in interviews that is also the case.Attached FilesLast edited by allBthere; 05-30-2013, 12:44 AM.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl Froch II
He did have him hurt badly in the 11th though.
I agree that it was a good fight, it's a thing of beauty to watch kessler throw combo bombs and he also made froch miss very badly a number of times.
I think Kessler can adjust and take the 3rd fight, BUT it might not happen since the last 4 fights he's had, he has hinted it could be his last including this one... so it's hard to say. His only bad loss was to Ward and he's had a great career, and he's 36 ... it's not old by any means, but if I were him I'd look to start other business ventures, invest in real estate, travel etc and hang em up.
He has been more or less injured for the past 5 years and Montoya (Kessler's coach) also said he didn't think it was worth it!
As a Dane who has watched everyone of Kessler's fights I'll miss him! The best danish boxer ever and maybe the biggest sports personality in our country for the past decade!Success is temporary - Loyalty means forever

Re: Mikkel Kessler VS Carl Froch II
Awesome, thanks for sharing that story allBthere. It's always cool when people are as nice in real life as you think they are on TV. There are so many people that I always assumed were really nice that friends/others who have known them in real life have told me are kind of jerks, so it's a real rarity to see someone genuine. Good Old Unlce Al...I'll watch the ShoBox crew with more respect from now on!
And kong, I agree Kessler is very likeable and a really good fighter. Whatever happens from here, he's had a great career.Comment
