When GGG knocked him down, Steven's face looked like he had just seen his life flash before his eyes lol. His mouth was wide open and I couldn't help but laugh. He came back strong for a little bit though and showed some heart. GGG is just too tough.

I was impressed by GGG's boxing skills. He found success with the body shots later in the fight and really hurt Stevens there.

I'm hoping he knocks Sergio's head off and then fights Cotto.
I didn't mean to sell him short. I love GGG. I was giving Stevens credit for his heart and resiliency more than anything. Those punches that Golovkin delivered when Curtis had his gloves up were taking their toll too....and those body shots...Stevens would have been unconscious had the fight lasted another round. I thought GGG fought a near perfect fight.

I think Sergio at his best could beat GGG, (due to being a quicker counter puncher) but that time may have passed. Maybe he's got a big one left in him though...can't count him out fully.

Could just be bs rumors too. Saw it on some facebook boxing page.
Agreed. I think 2009 S-Mart would probably beat 2013 GGG.
But right now, even if Sergio was 100% injury free, I think GGG knocks him out.
Stevens hit Golovkin with some heavy shots and he didn't seem phased. Only once did it look like he was slightly stunned. His chin is dynamite.
Meanwhile, Sergio's chin is starting to get worse and worse.

I still really want to see this fight, but I have a feeling that by the time Martinez is injury free, and taken a tune-up fight, GGG will have moved on to bigger and better things and this fight will have gone past it's expiry date.

If anything, I can see Martinez fighting Cotto at 158 and then going after Floyd at 154 (and lose).

Curtis Stevens definitely aqcuitted himself nicely, and hit Golovkin with some quality shots (that GGG just seemed to walk through). I think the fight elevated both guys; I had no idea who Stevens was before this bout and had never seem him fight, but he is a quality fighter with good skills, a good chin, and sharp punches. GGG is obviously as billed; not sure there are too many fighters he can't soundly beat (if not knock out) at this point. Martinez is a shell of his former self at this point, and he's been down in his last 3 fights if I recall, all to fighters that don't hit with near the ferocity of Golovkin. I don't even want to see that fight, as it will just be the destructive end of S-Mart's career.

I see how you could think that.

I wonder if GGG will go for a few million against the likes of Frosh or Stevenson at 168?

Steven handspeed and left hook looked awesome. I still can't believe how unaffected GGG was when he was hit by a handful of very hard, clean shots.

I think Steven would have beaten 95% of the middleweights out there that night.
I hope he can rebound and continue pushing on at 160. I think 168 and certainly his old 175 are too big for him.

GGG was great. He is now mature and does not rush. Very patient and at 31 can dominate for next few years. I would love! to see him fight Ward next, see if Ward can get him frustrated.

Yep, I think that's a fight that will need to be made at some point. The weight might be an issue, but both guys need this fight because they're more-or-less cleaning out their divisions...

Interesting and seemingly honest take by Stevens as he prepares for a "sparring partner" fight taking place in late January.

                      GGG Power?
