The reason that people say Floyd's style is "boring" is usually fair. In so far as he is clearly the best defensive boxer out there right now. But he never goes to close a show. He should've easily stopped Mosely, Marquez, and Guerrero easily. But was to comfortable pot shotting them down the stretch.

I am a huge fan of his, and love to watch him work, but some of the criticisms of him are valid.

Why should he have to fight how others want him to?

Sometimes you humiliate a guy by torturing him rather than just easily cutting his head off.

I take it as he's just proving that he doesn't have to knock a guy out.

If Hatton hadn't hit his head against the turnbuckle, Floyd would still be punching him to this day.

He doesn't but it doesn't mean he is above criticism for his choices. Floyd is comfortable in his style. That styles doesn't make for the most exciting fights especially when for the last 5 rounds his opponents a gun shy of throwing punches because of his counters no one is pressing the attack.

Yeah, I echo N51_rob's points. No one is saying Floyd "has" to fight how others want him to. I respect the hell out of his talents and there's no question he's one of the greatest, if not greatest, counter-punchers in history. Floyd can certainly be exciting to watch at times, in spurts, but it's not like he gets involved in the kinds of wars that you talk about decades later - to his great credit as a boxer, I should add.

The point is, to pound a dead cliche, if you don't like bebop or improvisational jazz, no amount of forcing yourself to listen to "Birth of the Cool" is going to change that. No one in their right mind would say that Miles Davis or Charlie Parker weren't among the greats of their chosen professions, but understanding and appreciating that is different than enjoying what they do/did.

Eh i don't know about easily stopping mosley. Mosley has never been stopped and is known for having a great chin, marquez and guerrero have never been stopped either. I don't recall people saying pacquiao should of ko'd mosley, and he fought an older washed up version, and that fight was less exciting than floyds. I think he'll take go for the knockout if it presents itself, but none of those fighters have been stopped.

No they hadn't been stopped before, but they also were not throwing punches at any sort of volume. An uptick in Floyds offense in round 9-12 could've easily had the fights stopped based on accumulation of damage. Point being all those fighters were defeated and not throwing meaningful or damaging punches back at Floyd in the last rounds. Yeah, I'm not saying he should've KOed them. But I know that he could've pressed the action and upped his offense.

Again, I've got no problem with him not doing that, and I will continue to watch him work, because I think he is a generationally skilled boxer, who is at the top of his craft. But I stand by the fact that he is not above criticism for not going after these guys when their offense dried up and they are out there going through the motions to collect their lotto winnings.

Would love to see Pacquiao vs. Broner. Think it would be a tough fight for both fighters

Really? Tough fight for broner, pacquiao would destroy him, he's definitely not ready for pacquiao.

As has been well documented Broner doesn't throw enough punches, and his class level has been exposed with his loss to Maidana. Easy fight for Pacquiao.

Matthysse would probably knock him out, but I could watch that fight or a Garcia-Broner bout.

I would too. But only because it would be suicidal for Broner and almost certainly end his aspirations to be a star in the sport at anything north of 140...
