Re: Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao DEAL DONE
Ortiz was punching a man with his arms down not looking at his opponent, hardly a measure of power. Not saying he cheated just that we always need to remember the context.
Having said that I think it's possible for Floyd to catch manny rushing in with a straight rightLiquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao DEAL DONE
I think you're mistaken. That was at the beginning of the 4th round in that fight, the bell had nothing to do with Floyd not going down.
In fact, Floyd ended up winning that round pretty convincingly.Last edited by JODYE; 04-30-2015, 11:37 AM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Yep, you are right. Corley tagged him early then punched himself out after about a minute of having Floyd on the ropes. It was one of the cleanest shots I have seen landed on Floyd though.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao DEAL DONE
Either way he got the KO, I was just refuting the claim he didn't have a KO in 10 years. I was a sucker punch, but Ortiz was being a sucker. Not sure why he thought trying to make out with Floyd during the match was a good idea. Hatton was just too small to be fighting Floyd. Hatton was still a champion, more than a club fighter IMO. DeMarcus Chop Chop Corley was a glorified club fighter and he came the closest to taking Floyd out that I have seen. If not for the bell Floyd would have gone down.
Well, maybe club fighter is a bit harsh, but if you look at Hatton's career, it's not exactly a murderer's row of victories. I guess Collazo and Castillo are 2 solid victories, but other than that, whenever he fought anyone that you've ever heard of, he was knocked out. I liked watching him fight since he was an exciting action fighter, but he wasn't much more than a footnote at best.Last edited by pietasterp; 04-30-2015, 01:24 PM.Comment

The check left hook that floyd nailed him with sending him into the corner was a highlight show of skillz.
Manny just plain killed him with one punch.
I think the best we can hope for as fans is that floyd has trouble timing manny ... that will make the bout exciting in a realistic way to hope for. Sure people may want Manny to KO floyd with a spectacular KO and/or VICE versa, but to get a decent amount of action, manny will be busy and floyd will need to miss some counters and have to try and adjust and get a bit offensive to avoid losing rounds. THAT will make it interesting - if it's like the clottey fight it will be a cruise control decision for floyd because he's so much better than clottey at picking his shots and countering/timing.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao DEAL DONE
He beat Kostya Tszyu and Tszyu crushed Judah. But he really wasn't big enough to fight welterweight and welterweight has been the premiere division IMO over the last decade. He fought some guys with some decent records but I have no idea if they were any good or not because I really don't follow the lighter divisions unless it's a title fight. Definitely think his name carried more weight in Europe.
Anyway, does anyone have a guess as to whether this fight will be on free the week following (as per usual)? It wouldn't surprise me if somehow it was like $30 the week after or some such nonsense...I will be traveling this weekend (not to Vegas, unfortunately) and likely to miss the original broadcast.Comment

Re: Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao DEAL DONE
I don't know if Mayweather wants to milk this for another fight or not but like all of his other fights this will be boring as hell. Mayweather wins 8 rounds. I am rooting for him to get his head taken off though.Comment
