Re: Kovalez-Ward 3 Days Away (11-19-16)
saw the lomachenko-walters fight on free hbo preview weekend....lomachenko was impressive, to say the least. he put on a boxing exhibition. strange ending, however, with walters quitting or no mas (a la duran). his explanation was not enough fights and he wasn't ready. REALLY? why not postpone the fight? why fight him at all knowing this? makes no sense, but whatever. lomachenko should go with a rematch against salido next (to avenge his only loss) and then maybe go up to fight manny. IF he beats manny, does he have a legit shot against floyd? i actually believe the loss against salido made him an even better (and motivated) fighter than he was already. taking on an experienced fighter like salido, in addition to all those low blows, was a tall order. he definitely learned from that fight and looks much better now as a result.
Plus it's a HUGE ask for Lomachenko to climb to 147. He just jumped from 126 to 130. And there's NO way Mayweather will fight Lomachenko at 140. Not. One. Chance.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

I don't think Mayweather would fight Lomachenko. Too big of a risk. Loma is nearing Mayweather's class defensively, and his offensive footwork and power are better. I don't know if Loma beats Mayweather, but it's far too big of a risk to Floyd's coveted zero.

Tough, physical in-fighters like Salido will give Loma more fits than a slick boxer. There's hardly a guy in the world that Loma can't "out-slick." There are plenty of tough guys who can push him to the limit before falling to his superior footwork, hand speed and ability to attack at angles.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

I respectfully beg to differ. There's not a boxer on Earth between 126 and 140 who can match Lomachenko's skill except for Mayweather and maybe Rigondeaux.

I agree he's good and I'd love to see him fight Garcia one day, and Salido immediately.Comment

Re: Kovalez-Ward 3 Days Away (11-19-16)
true....lomachenko would not bring in big ppv numbers like a manny would AND is way too much of a risk, even though he would have to go up to fight floyd, and floyd likes having the weight advantage in a fight. garcia would be a more logical fight for him. i compared the lomachenko-salido fight and the walters fight and he looked SO MUCH better. i can see him winning titles at 130, 135, 140 and 147. maybe by then, the build up for a garcia fight will be huge. (that is, if garcia gets by thurman).Comment

Re: Kovalez-Ward 3 Days Away (11-19-16)
Yeah, but if we're talking about pure class rather then matchup problems Garcia did obliterate Salido. That being said I was really referring to how they handle Loma, rather then saying Garcia would necessarily beat him. He's just landed at 130 and I think he'll stay there for awhile. Also that's a wide weight range you're talking about (126-140)-Adrien Broner was a beast at 130-135 and not so much at 140 and 147.
I agree he's good and I'd love to see him fight Garcia one day, and Salido immediately.
But I'll respectfully disagree about increased weight causing Broner's decline. Broner never was that good, even at 130 and 135. His biggest wins at that weight were Daniel Ponce de Leon and Antonio De Marco. Big whoop.
Once Broner climbed to welter, he faced higher-quality fighters such as Malignaggi, Maidana, both Molinas and Porter. He ran out of talent quickly.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Kovalez-Ward 3 Days Away (11-19-16)
That's a fair point, but he was knocking everybody out at the lower weight and for a brief spell was the top dog at 135. Also there's a good list of fighters at 140 and 147 that he's never considered fighting-remember at the time Malignaggi and Maidana were suppose to be cakewalks... (although his fight with Paulie was about as exciting as watching ballroom dancing).Comment

Re: Kovalez-Ward 3 Days Away (11-19-16)
Yeah-I still think a fight with Mickey Garcia could bring in some bucks. There is not a lot of welterweights getting PPV fights recently.
Very true and he doesn't throw enough punches but I wouldn't turn the channel off if he fought Brook, Thurman, Khan, Spence, or Garcia.Comment
