Floyd Mayweather Jr. is being petty and anti-EA because they tried to play him. They literally wanted him to be in Fight Night Round 4 at the time for free and they paid Pacquiao a few millions. Pacquiao was Floyd's nemesis so to say. Floyd's ego got hurt so he made it hard on EA to get him(justifiable).

Re: I Got a Few Game Companies Attention About Making a Boxing Videogame
Just make Mike Tyson your spokesperson, ala John Madden.
He could be the only real fighter in the game and it would sellout.
Every year people would ask "You playing the new Tyson?"
Just make sure the game has a very deep CAB functionality and the ability to share rosters.
Done.Comment

Finally somebody who was their with me at the Fight Night Round 4 event!!!! You remember when the producers wanted Floyd to do it for free but paid Pacquiao. They were huge Pacquiao fans too. Brizzo was a Joe Frazier fan....lol!Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment

Re: I Got a Few Game Companies Attention About Making a Boxing Videogame
Yeah, Brizzo had a "Run FLOYD Run" T-shirt on. He was clearly on Team Pac, lol.
I recall them speaking about Flloyd's demands - which were outrageous.
He wanted the game to be changed to Floyd Mayweather Boxing, be the cover athlete and I think he wanted a % of the sales.
Fight Night sold just fine without him.
The only thing I remember being disappointed with was Brizzo's hesitation to add deep components to the career mode like diet.
He said people don't want to count calories or diet in real life, they don't want it in a boxing game.
I agree with him. But I think you can add weight fluxuation and diet without making it tedious.
Hire a nutritionist or just deal with a fighter growing into a bigger body by moving them up a weight class.
There was a lot to love in the first Fight Night. I had high hopes for the series.
FNC was a bit of a letdown because they focused more on a storymode than the career mode.
IMO, if you add enough spice to a career mode, it's basically a dynamic Story Mode that you can write and re-write ad nauseam.Comment

Re: I Got a Few Game Companies Attention About Making a Boxing Videogame
Actually the numbers were tallied together with the Japanese version. The Japanese version sold 380,000 copies of the game. The US version sold $50,000 (I was one of them).
All I ask is that you play it straight. We know you BADLY want a game company to make a boxing game. I think every boxing fan including myself would want that. What you shouldnt do is try to tailor the facts so that your argument is valid.
Here are the facts:
- There hasnt been a single boxing game that has been successful without a well known fighter on the cover. (Feel free to provide me with actual sales data to support that not simply the fact that you have talked to people who say they would buy one.)
- Signing Floyd would be very expensive for any gaming company. His demands related to anything involving boxing is always going to be expensive. (Him signing a deal for a poker game isnt the same as a boxing game. His value is greatly increased in boxing).
- Licensing costs in a boxing game could be expensive. Sure there are several mid-tier and maybe upper tier fighters who would allow their likeness to be used for cheap or zero. With that said, I doubt that someone like Canelo, GGG, Wilder, Joshua, Loma etc. would be willing to grant their likeness rights for cheap and those are the fighters needed to guarantee decent/ break even sales for an AAA boxing title.
I do wonder how Fight Night would sell with only a few licensed names and then all computer generated fighters to flesh out the game. I also wonder how Fight Night would do if they paid for one or two really big names to be on the cover, fleshed out the roster with the cheaper names and then sold the more difficult fighters to license as DLC where the fighters could get a piece of each DLC purchase of their boxer.Comment

Re: I Got a Few Game Companies Attention About Making a Boxing Videogame
One of the biggest misconceptions about a boxing game are licensing expenses.
I know quite a few and spent time with many famous boxers and every single one of them would be in a boxing game for free or at a minimal cost. And others I haven’t interacted are represented by guys like Hearn who understand the big number that would be grown by video games.
When I hear or read people talk about licensing issues, that tells me not only are they sending the wrong people, they aren’t presenting the issue and benefits appropriately.
What about boxers who have signed with other companies? Perhaps they signed 10 yr or lifetime deals?
I do think it is in present day boxers’ best interest to be in a big time video game. It only helps their brand.

You can't. There's a reason for that. Just think about Vince Young and Peyton Hillis with Madden. Today's champ is tomorrow's chump.
Even Tiger didn't last forever with EA, and he was the most secure money in the bank as an athletic endorser on Earth for nearly 10 years before he was proven to be mortal as a player and a person.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

No gaming companies sign long-term or lifetime licensing deals with athletes. Name me one sports franchise other than Madden that has used the same licensed celebrity or athlete for more than 10 years.

Are you speculating ? It’s smart business to sign certain athletes to long-term deals if it is feasible. I know UFC has lifetime deals.
Don’t know why you would compare nfl players to boxers. You think Ali and Tyson are “tomorrow’s chump”? Fight night relied on classic boxers.Comment

As for UFC, a lot of good that lifetime deal with Rousey or Jon Jones is doing. That's the risk. Today's champ is tomorrow's WWE queen or disgraced drug cheat. Something tells me Bones isn't selling any games any time soon.
I compare NFL players to boxers as licensed cover athletes. And since EA almost certainly has sold more copies of Madden in one year than it has for every version of Fight Night combined, it makes more sense for the company to sign someone like Madden to a long-term deal, not a boxer.
The reason EA continued to use Ali and Tyson as cover athletes is because there are so few boxers today who are commercially viable household names. Among active fighters, there's one -- Pacquiao. And he's in the twilight of his career.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Where is it written that Mayweather is making a fitness game?
All reports I've found indicate it's going to be a legit boxing video game.
