I dig the idea of a crowd funded boxing game. Keep it basic and focus on the core game experience first, then layer on features over time.

don't know if it's a roster or licensing issue with sports games but none of them ever get remastered or backwards compatible it seems.....

The only EA sports game I can think of that's BC is Skate 3. I don't think any of the Madden, NHL, Tiger or NBA Live games are BC. Older versions of those games for this generation are available on EA Access, not as BC.

It would be fantastic if EA Access added Fight Night Champion to the Vault as a BC title.
It probably has to do with the licensing issues concerning real players.
If you make MLB 1984 backwards compatible, I'm guessing you have to deal with paying the players of that era.

        So do I.
If I had the funds, I'd pay someone to use the code from NES's Ring Kings and then add career mode options from the Title Bout Boxing Sim.

Title Bout Championship Boxing like details with graphics would be a day one buy for me.

The spirit of Title Bout the board game lives on in Legends of Boxing, an incredible game -- especially since it's FREE.

Found this game on Steam; World Boxing Manager:
World Boxing Manager is a game in which you develop and manage the careers of young, hungry boxers desperate for glory. You scout and recruit fighters from a pool of amateurs who come to train at your gym - it's up to you to decide who to mold into championship material.

              Only $5.49 right now.
I may give it a shot this weekend.

                  This is kind of cool:

Some rando programmer is working on making a boxing game.
Looks like it'll likely be a PC game, but you never know.
                  Looks pretty good.

I actually have been communicating with this one-man production team. He said he working to make it for the major systems on the market.

                      Found the official site;
                      http://www.indiedb.com/games/project-boxing

If this could be sold at a reasonable price with a decent career mode I think it would do well.

would it be sort of like rocket league or super mega baseball, where it's a digital release?

For unknown developers, I don't even pay attention to what they are doing until there is playable game in the wild. Not worth my time to even care, even if it is a game in one of my favorite genres.

So, if a good boxing game came out, I would play it. As I said in the other thread, I watch MMA more now, but boxing games seem to be a much better gaming experience. So for me, the challenge is in them producing a good game. And no, I'm not going to buy it just to prop up support for the genre.

I absolutely WILL support and buy a video game just because it is in the genre. Indie developers are really good too with the newer tools available to them now, so I know it will likely be a good product.

If by support you mean help fund? Then, maybe. All depends on the quality. I love boxing games more than any genre, but I would need licensed boxers or a robust create a fighter. It’s really hard to put out a great game with great presentation and graphics if you don’t have a decent budget and experience.

                                Two questions:

                                1) How important is it that a boxing game features a fully licensed set of real-world boxers?

                                2) Should the number of winnable titles be slimmed down to the traditional "1 per division", or should some kind of alphabet soup be implemented?
