    GGG - Alvarez II

    Who do you got?
I swore I wouldn't buy the rematch because the decision in the first fight was paid-for.
    But I can't help myself.

I think this is going to be a very close and competitive fight.
GGG is a basic fighter in that he just comes at you and overpowers you with this strength, stamina and chin.
But he's 36 and father time catches up to everyone. I believe we saw a bit of that in the first fight already.
The first bout SHOULD have happened 2 to 3 years ago. If it did, GGG wins by KO IMO.
But I'm not sure about the rematch.

I could see it playing out similar to Lewis-Holyfield II. Lewis clearly won the first bout, but the 2nd was a lot closer than the scores showed. But I believe because of the horrendous scoring in their first fight, Lewis was given every round that was close so history wouldn't repeat itself.
I think that could happen here too. Saying that, DHL and Golden Boy have a lot of money and pull. If anyone is going to get the benefit of the doubt, it's Oscar and co.
His fighter failed a PED test twice and yet only got a 6-month sitdown.

As much as I've grown to despise Alvarez (ducking GGG, steroids), he's got very quick hands and is a great counter-puncher.
Without his PEDs I wonder if he's going to come in much smaller. If he does, you know he's going to get on his bike again.
GGG needs to adjust too. His trainer said that his fighter didn't do a good enough job to cut off the ring in the first fight because they weren't expecting Alvarez to run so much.
I imagine they'll work on that for the rematch.

In the end. I think Alvarez will likely make more adjustments for GGG. Golovkin is what he is.
But, if Alvarez is finally PED free and comes in smaller and weaker, GGG's power, heart and chin will have enough to overpower Alvarez.
But I could see Yellow pulling out a split-decision.
I hope not. GGG is the true warrior and honourable fighter of the two.

I'm also curious to see what happens to the loser of this fight. If GGG loses, I can see him walking away.
If Alvarez loses, his career is in jeopardy. I think he's peaked and if he can't beat a 36YO fighter out of his prime, he'll get starched by some of the other contenders at 160.

Yeah, I decided to shell out the $85.

As far as GGG not cutting off the ring enough, he had opportunities with Canelo on the ropes and seemed to hold back maximum pressure to lessen the number of counterpunches striking him. Alvarez frequently got on his bicycle and for the second fight, he's muscled-downed and lighter/faster so he might present even more problems for GGG. I don't like the fact that Golovkin was virtually unable to go to the body particularly with that devastating left hook when up against top-flight competition in Jacobs and Canelo. And then there's Canelo's chin.

The betting favorite is Golovkin (GGG -155, CAN +125) and I give him the edge because he's better positioned to end the fight early, and I think his stronger punches and active jab will register with the judges.

For those who missed the weigh-in.
Alvarez tried to get in GGG's face but it didn't amount to much:

You hear a smattering of boo's when Alvarez is announced.
I was listening to Sirius FightNation and one of the reporters in Vegas said that speaking to the Latino fans in town, there are a LOT of them who are backing GGG.

I think Alvarez is embarrassed that a Khazik has become a hero amongst his fanbase.

Not sure what to expect from him, but I have a feeling he's going to try and bang with GGG the first couple of rounds.

EDIT: I know it's not uncommon for fighters to be light-headed after cutting so hard before the weigh-in.
But did I see that right? Did Alvarez kind of fall into his chair after the weigh-in?

Either a footwear malfunction or GGG is superstitious.

Lol man GGG didnt budge when this cat came at him...I think he is under Canelos skin...and dont underestimate the power of the PED s he was on ..I am of the belief that thats what kept him in the fight ..I also think besides him obviously getting caught he canceled that first fight because it takes months for your body to get normal testosterone productional and hormonal balance after taking PED s..I am curious to see how he performs without them..

LOL, GGG is a pimp. He didn't look scared in the least. If anything, it looked like that rattled Alvarez.

I believe Alvarez has been on PEDs for his entire career. His neck looked like my waist in their first fight. But he sure looks thinner now.

Alvarez looks much stronger thru 6 rounds.
                  Probably 3-3 so far.

I think it’s 6-3 Golovkin. But he looks gassed. Alvarez looks much stronger

Wow. GGG got hosed. He won at least 7 rounds if not 8 or even 9.

                            Re: GGG - Alvarez II

I will say this. Alvarez looked strong and dictated the fight. He controlled the middle of the ring throughout. He also landed way more body shots.
Golovkin looked tired for most of the fight and was on the outside.
However, I felt Golovkin put together more rounds.
I had 5 guys come over to watch who don’t normally watch boxing. All 5 felt GGG won the fight.
It was very close and if anything THIS fight was probably more apropos to finish in a draw. Instead Alvarez walks away undefeated in two fights.
I’ll also repeat what I’ve said for a while now, this fight should have taken place 3 years ago. Golovkin looked old and I truly believe he stops Alvarez if they fight in 2015.
But DLH is no dummy and kept him away just for that reason.
Congrats to Alvarez. He didn’t run this time and pressed forward the whole time.
However, I still believe his best isn’t as good as GGG’s.
It’ll be interesting what he does from here on out.
I’m guessing he takes a gimme fight in May. Maybe two.
                            Lemieux for sure.
But I bet DLH steers him clear of any of the top contenders for at least a year.
                            Time to milk this cow.

                              Re: GGG - Alvarez II

I thought the fight was too close to call. Alvarez seemed to frustrate GGG early but how many of those early rounds did he win? GGG landed some bombs in the later rounds but could only split the last four rounds on two of the judge's scorecards. The judge that called it a draw gave the last four rounds to GGG.
