I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.

Wouldn't surprise me. EA sits on Golf for 5 years until PGA tour 2k comes on strong then they bring their golf back and buy up every license basically destroying the competitive market place.

Here comes a new boxing game which has a tonne of hype, with a pile of boxers and licenses. EA will swoop in and squash it too.

Sure it's smart business and I do believe they will make good games but EA really lives up to their reputation of being the bad guy.

The language doesn't seem to hint at a new game...it just states that they're announcing a cool new feature.

I'm guessing EA's plan will be to recycle old code and update graphics & rosters.
eSBC is a first day buy for me.
I'll wait and see with EA. Specifically because I'm skeptical they'll do anything about their franchise mode or providing actual differences in fighting styles.

I don't think EA will be bake to come in and take over the boxing market this time. ESBC has all the major sanctioning bodies working with them...cut men and a huge roster. Realistically what can EA do? They'll have Fury and Joshua...they can try to get Manny, Floyd and Errol. But, I don't think they can put a halt to the ESBC hype train like they did 2k football.

            I hope you're right.
EA has massive brand appeal which will sell copies on its own.
In the end, I want more than one game. I hope eSBC pushes EA and vice versa.
But I'll be supporting eSBC first and foremost so we can be sure to have competition for years.

If it returns it'll be like a fighter coming into a fight all out of shape and badly prepared. It's been 10 years since we last got a game from them and they decided to shift their focus to UFC instead do we even know if they were working on a game during all this time? If it's fight night I'm not expecting it to look good they probably may not even show footage It'll be like what EA did with Skate 4 last year just say that they're working on it. I don't think it's Fight night that's returning it's NBA Live.

Meanwhile ESBC is looking like that next young boxer who comes in knocks out the ageing champ and takes the belt.

I just can't get excited about Fight Night. I don't think EA is either.

You guys are WAY too late to the party on this. It was already confirmed as FIFA powered by "hypermotion" and the trailer for that game dropped today. They released a schedule of events at the end of the future of fps event that showed FIFA being discussed on the 20th. They never mentioned bringing back an old franchise, just one media outlet interpreted it that way and everyone else ran with it. I have this whole discussion in the NBA Live Forums.

TBH, what sport does EA represent well?
They're all basically the same; graphics, licensing, presentation, Ultimate Team.

Gameplay? AI? Severely lacking in every game.
The last EA game I thought did its sport justice was MVP2004.

I'm not expecting much with FN or any other sports game they crank out.
They focus 90% of their resources on fluff and "back of box" hyperbole.

That's how I read it as well. But there seems to be smoke about Fight Night from coming from other sources. So we will see one way or the other if there's a fire.

This is how I interpreted it to.

I still believe a new FN is coming though. If not now, it definitely will after ESBC crushes UFC sales number.
