I've always thought there should be a combo button added to these games.
You learn combo's via training or leveling up. And it would depend on the fighters attributes.
Wilder is never going to have a 3 or 4 punch combo, but maybe his is a simple 1-2.
A Tyson would have the bollow-punch combo; hook to body, followed by uppercut.
Leonard, Floyd,... would have 3 and 4 set combo's.

IDK Money99, that would feel extremely cheap and take away some of the skill from a fighting game.

Every fighter is capable of throwing combos, some just choose not to (more heavyweights IMO)

I'd personally prefer that combinations weren't tied to a single button. I'd like to be able to break out of a combination at any time too which I can currently can.

The game badly needs the clinch and push offs as well as leaning onto your opponent.
Hopefully that’s in the next update.

it's only in single player by pushing in the right stick. It's just stationary and pre-alpha state. I believe you might be able to push in MP which is clicking in the RS and also pressing the right bumper - that 100% is in SP. - that could also use refinement as well.

I can actually rip pretty sweet combinations - I stick to a lot of basics - one of the best for online is just the 1-2-3 when someone is closing in and entering the pocket. As I've said repeatedly though, the counter system kind of ruins combinations though too - for example IRL if you're looking for a counter you're waiting on a certain punch from the opponent and go right away, you can't really counter as well if someone is raining down punches and you catch the 3rd and counter a body uppercut - this is hard to explain but it just feels like it pauses the game.

Thank you for this. I have been playing mainly against my son in couch mode.
Also, did they bump up the cpu requirements to run the game recently? Seems like the frames have become a little jaggy of late.

Also mixing up between buttons and the RS for punches helps.

That's a great point - I exclusively use the RS for uppercuts as it's a bit much trying to do them w/ buttons on the fly.

                      I understand your argument.
But for dummies like me who seem to be growing thumbs as I get older, it sucks playing as a skilled, fast fighter and it's like I'm controlling an 18-wheeler.
It's like the skill-stick in EA's hockey games. I would be in control of a great stickhandler but it was like they were moving underwater because my stick skills suck.

Not every fighter would have combo's mapped to the controller. It would depend on the fighter, their ratings and real life fighting style.

The punching mechanics are simply brutally bad. Every time you throw an uppercut on the inside its in slow motion. WHY ???

Then you have the stamina system, this is supposed to be a boxing simulation in 2024 and we're still throwing tired punches in ****ing SLOW MOTION. Why ???

Is it really that difficult to add four unique tired punch animations for when a boxer is gassed and make those punches less effective?

How is it wrestling games figured out how to handle stamina with tired animations a decade ago and now even have tired finishers yet a boxing game can't figure out how to add 4 tired punch animations? This is mind numbing to me.

If it wasn't over a year in early access I wouldn't care but man, its over a year and all they've changed gameplay wise is adding in that weaving mechanic. This is my beef with this game, I wish they focused on the gameplay, specifically the damn punching and atrocious stamina system. Tweaking sliders clearly isn't going to fix these problems.

Finally a new round-table - awesome update coming and here are the cole's notes - clips are in the update as well:

                          • MAJOR punch tracking correction and head movement is viable as you can see loads of slipping/weaving
                          • Big changes to some punch animations, for example the step in cross/rear-hook is NASTY. They've also updated the step back straight (nerf) and lead body upper (nerf) Rear body upper loosk really painful
                          • Significant changes to punch reaction - big shots look really impactful and they've added much more follow through on the punch animations.
                          • Arm fatigue/same arm punching updates - they don't slow down like moving in mollases, they've just added compounding punch reset/recovery animation frames so that you could get easily countered and it takes more time for punches to come out/reset. So fatigued punches will still have some snap on them, rather than that slow weird stuff they have now
                          • More custom hairstyles and other cosmetic things
                          • in game belts and new celebrations etc.
                          • reworks combination fluidity
                          • re-introduced more physics (blocked punches will move the fighter doing the blocking, and other items like that

Here are the negatives because they had to remove a few things in order to improve gameplay, but have promised to put back in!

                          • Clinch temporarily removed COMPLETELY - this was a shock to me, but you couldn't do it in multiplayer anyway and it looked really bad. They said they need to rework it to put it back in POST LAUNCH
                          • Ref still not in...wasn't looking polished.
                          • Vulnerability out - going to rework post launch

Speaking of launch they didn't say BUT this time they said 'announcement coming soon'. So to me that means within 30 days (totally my guess, but 'real soon' must mean something close to that) they will announce a launch window for consoles and PC.

The build they are beta testing now has everything implemented and boxing fanitico was saying he's played it - so if that's 1.0 the game is essentially ready as they have it in the state they were describing in the round-table.

They will continue to add free updates (ref, clinch) as well as paid dlc post-launch.

My personal guess for launch on PC/console will be September. I don't see any way they'd miss 2024 even in a worst case scenario. Right now it's probably going to xbox ps5 quality control etc shortly and all that red-tape to release a game on those platforms. Anyone's guess if they simultaneously hold back pc to coincide w/ console or if that gets updated earlier...

REALLY encouraging update to see the new defensive effectiveness in the game was my biggest take-away.
