EA's mistake was naming a upgrade as a new gimmick

EA actually cause them selves to be flamed. By trying to use gimmick advertisments they actually gave EA haters/purists something to look for. But I dont see the issue with the Haymaker and here is why....

    Morales vs Barreras

The Compubox punch stats showed Morales with 808 punches thrown to Barrera's 765.

    Morales landed 231 to Barrera's 290.

Morales threw 236 jabs as opposed to Barrera's 314 with Morales landing 49 and Barrera 67.

In power punches thrown, Morales threw 572 to Barrera's 451 with Morales landing 182 to Barrera's 223.

Haymakers are powerpunches an actual maker is a lunging out of control punch. This "new" feature is really an up grade on adding power to punches.

This is how EA should broken down stats to shut up some folks looking to hate this new haymaker feature

Only 10 jabs landed between the two fighters...

More proof for those who are not boxing fans but feel like this feature is cheap...

    Tarver vs Johnson
For Tarver for every 1 jab he threw almost 2.5 more "Power" punches

Not all boxers as they should lead with the jab or use the jab as a major weapon. Honestly the best jabber of today is just coming out of retirement and thats Lennox Lewis mostly based on his reach.

My point is replace Haymaker with Power Punch and I dont see the problem.

The actual haymaker is not the problem to me it's the way it's used. The energy dosen't go down quick enough and no matter how many punches the cp takes before following thru with the haymaker it has the same amount of power. You can walk thru 3 uppercuts and land a haymaker that's more powerful.I bet the boxers in this game would say it's not realistic either.

I guess my explinantion of that would be some power punches are stronger than others. The trade for more power is a slower release of a punh because you have to load up for it. Which makes it easier to block.

I mean depending on the situation I may throw a upper cut or a hook quickly to make contact or in a combo but if I have a clean shot I would load up for the punch or punches to increase power but it is still just a power punch nothing special just added power thus increasing the amount of stamina lost and fatigue and the chances for you to block while also increasing damage inflicted. Giving us the oppurtunity to have flash knockouts which I dont mind the trade off.
