    Parrys Ruin The Game

At first when I started playing this game I was amazed at the huge improvement EA made gameplay wise and I still am impressed. After doing a career mode on "medium" and "hard" however, i'm starting to regret ever buying the game. Forget the Haymakers, the constant Parrys is what really ruins this game and eliminates all replay value (offfline). It forces you to fight two ways. Either throwing jabs and straights the entire fight(because you can't lead with anything else) OR standing in front of the guy, wait for him to throw, parry his punch and counter. It's NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to lead with a hook or uppercut on the computer and land it.

I've tested it numerous times, as soon as you start to move the stick in the direction you want to punch, the computer immediatly puts his hand up to parry it. This also makes landing a lead Haymaker extremely hard as well. You know, I don't mind counter-punching it's actually how I prefer to fight but when a game FORCES you into fighting a certain way, that's going too far. If you think i'm whining that the game is too hard well i'm not. I just finished a light heavyweight carrer on HARD (43-0 40 KO'S, all trophies) so the level of difficulty has nothing to do with it. It's how ANNOYING AND UNREALISTIC it is that really bothers me. EA, I don't know which fights your wathing but boxers don't do this, they just don't. Next near the parrys need to be toned down IMMENSLY. Just make the computer block normally, PLEASE!!!

I dont see that problem. I lead with a right hook alot either to the body or the head. I only play at the medium level so maybe thats the reason but I have no trouble landing hooks or uppercuts to start a combo.

Yeah it's possible to do it, mostly when the guys moving but 90% of the time their hand is up to parry every power shot. It's just not fun to play anymore. I think most of the people that are upset about Haymakers aren't realizing that it's actually the parry that's setting that up.

Stop complaining! This is the best boxing game ever. Yeah they can continue to tweak the gameplay a bit more in future iterations, but as it stands right now, it's as good as it gets!

Let's get some perspective here, people...

Compared to what exactly?. Despite the gameplay and boxer detail improvements this game is still a fuking mess. People need to start demanding alot more out of EA or we're gonna continue to get gimmicky and unrealistic games like this. This game is still FAR from accuratly portraying the sport in any means, any real fan will tell you that.

I think its a matter of setting up your power punches, just like in real life. Try throwing lead uppercuts and hooks all day against a good pro fighter. You will not get very far.

Besides, for those of you who are not into the whole strategy and ring generalship thing, there is always Super Punch Out......watch out for that old Chineese dude with the stick.......he's a bad MoFo

I agree. However i don' t think the game is a 'fuking mess'...but it will do. I am as big of a boxing fan as you'll find and I am somewhat dissappointed by FNR2. Gameplay aside....there are soooo many "little" things that ea could have done to make this game at least feel more authentic.
-Custom music (for entrances at least!!!)
-They need to add robes into the clothing selection. I think it would be better if we could unlock different style robes, hats, rappers (or any performer they happen to have on the ea trax), different trainers (that can give a specific ratings boost), or any other intro items besides the ring girls. I would much rather enjoy unlocking all that than having to unlock different color shorts and gloves....i mean wtf, are we dressing up barbie dolls here?
                            -More T.V. Style presentation:
                            - an intro similar to that of HBO's boxing after dark telecasts.....get a 3 man booth....or atleast a 2 announcers...i'm tired of just listening to 1 guy repeat himself over and over. HEY! I heard Sega's Dan Stevens and Peter O' Keefe might need a job .....give them a shot.

                            - As they talk about the upcoming main event...why not have a shot of each boxer in their locker room either listening to their headphones while getting taped or shadow boxing or something like that.
                            - more hype, more build up (with an option to skip for those who just want to get straight to the fight). What happened to the boxers introduction....why do they introduce them while they are coming in to the ring...this isn't wrasilin'. Player introductions with they're record appearing on their screen like it does on TV....while the boxer is pacing back and forth with his trainers in the background.
                            - where's the 'tale of the tape' for cryin out loud...does anybody at ea even watch boxing??!!!
                            - why cant' they get a "tv broadcast" camera view?

Even though I am somewhat dissapointed in this years FN, It is still the only boxing game out for the xbox right now so I will have to settle....and its not a bad game at all....its just that it could be soooo much better if more effort was put into it.
