1) First of all, in his fight with Tarrick, he had some injuries that weren't healing up. He had a cut on his left eye that wasn't healing, and his right hand/wrist were basically dead (or so he said). And he didn't want to fight in that condition.
2) He later said he thought he was gonna lose anyway in the next round, and by bowing out early, he'd still have his undefeated record. He called his injury a "hidden blessing".
*Spoilers*
Joey Gilbert has some heart. His fight with Jimmy Lange was pretty incredible. If his hamstring didn't go out on him in the third round (he was crushing Jimmy in the first two rounds. Really pounding him) it might've been a knockout, or at least not as close as it was. To win a match with basically one leg is pretty damn good. He came out punching in the 5th and final round, actually bringing Jimmy to his knees in the final seconds of the round.
Also, if you watch the previews for the next episode, it looks like Ahmed is back (bleh).

I don't like Ahmed either, but he'll bring sparks to the house for sure. From the previews it looks like he is destroying Alfonso.Comment

The thing with Ahmed is he's far more advanced as a puncher than he is a boxer. That cocky attitude of his doesn't let him put together a plan of attack because he (and that girlfriend of his...what a match!) thinks he's talented enough as it is.Comment

Re: the contender
I too am a fan of this show. Looks like this Sunday's show (May 1st) is the show to watch.
Joey is in the ring. Can't tell who his opponent is, but I'm guessing it's Peter Manfredo, the guy he let win the truck in the challenge.
This one is gonna be awesome!

Re: the contender
Good episode tonight. Sergio, Alphonso and Peter Manfredo are in the final four.
Next week Jessie and Anthony will go at it. Anthony advanced this far because he took on a weak fighter his first fight (Jesse beat Jonathan Reid). It'll be interesting to see if Anthony can hang with Jessie.
Here's the Middleweight rankings (http://boxrec.com/ratings.php):
Jessie - #20
Sergio - #22
Ishe - #23 (eliminated by Sergio)
Alphonso - #24
Manfredo - #40Comment

They don't have the experience or exposure of the guys we see on HBO or Showtime, but they are good boxers. We don't see the majority of the rounds (maybe 20-25 seconds of them) so it's tough to judge. Rankings say they're pretty good so I've followed that.Comment

Re: the contender
I looked over the rankings earlier, Jesse Brinkley is #12 and Manfredo was 15th or something. I saw Jimmy Lange at 7th?! WHAT?! No one else was ranked for what I saw. I figured Sergio Mora would be.Comment

Lange is 7? boxrec.com has Jermain Taylor at #5 and Lange at #134. No way Lange is that close to Taylor.Comment

Re: the contender
I looked on Sportsline's rankings. I didn't go that deep, they only had the top 15 or so.Comment
