Ruiz says he is NOT retiring.

Ruiz: I want my belt back!

QUIET MAN DECIDES NOT TO RETIRE

Former two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz announced today that, after speaking with his family and management team, he has reconsidered his decision to retire and will continue fighting. Ruiz retired April 30 immediately after losing a 12-round decision to James "Lights Out" Toney at Madison Square Garden. "My emotional decision, coming right after losing a fight I felt I won, was premature," Ruiz explained. "I was tired of all the criticism and felt everybody was against me. After reviewing the tape and talking it over with my advisors, I decided that I don't want to go out that way. If they want me out of the sport, they're going to have to knock me out. I'm back. "I want my WBA belt back. I still feel that I'm the best heavyweight in the world and I'm willing to fight any of the top heavyweights."

I think he is nuts, and if he thinks that he still is the best, then he needs some help bigtime.

LOL, what's he supposed to say? "Uhhh yeah, I know I suck and that I am the most boring fighter out there for you all to watch, but hey, I could get lucky and win, you never know." Fighters are supposed to be, or at least come across as, confident.

That quote is almost as comical as his "He didn't let me fight the way I wanted to fight" quote after he fought Roy Jones Jr.

Oh great now we have Toney-Ruiz 2 to look forward to. I'd rather see Randall "Tex" Cobb make a comeback.

God I hope we don't see another Toney-Ruiz fight. I wish they'd both just go away.

Hey, Tex cobb had one hella chin.. You remember the Holmes fight in 83.. 15 rounds of Larry hitting Cobb with everything but the kitchen sink.. If there is a Toney Ruiz 2, at least there won't be a 3rd fight in the series, ala Holyfield Vs Ruiz..

Yeah I remember that fight, it was so one sided that for the last couple of rounds Holmes was pleading with the ref to stop it because Cobb was doing a great impersonation of a pylon. From what I recall I think that was the last fight Cosell ever did because he was appalled at how bad heavyweight boxing had become and why Cobb was even in the same city as Holmes.

We might not get a 3rd Ruiz-Toney fight but look at the alternatives: Klitchsko-Ruiz, Byrd-Toney, Brewster-Rahman, Toney-Rahman, Byrd-Klitchko, Ruiz-Brewster, Wladimar Klitchsko against anybody blah blah blah..... If Cosell thought the heavyweights were bad back then he must be doing somersaults in his grave now.
