Wow, this is true. Styles make fights and if someone picks a really good striker, I need to know so that I can choose a wrestler or jiu jitsu guy.

I don't mind fighting Jones, GSP, Cain, Aldo alot. I just need to know beforehand so i can pick the right fighter against them.
    Lineup:
    PG) Gary Payton
    SG) '95-'96 Michael Jordan
    SF) Sapphire Scottie Pippen
    PF) '95-'96 Dennis Rodman
    C) Hakeem Olajuwon

I don't understand why they don't have a "random fighter" mode. That is the true test if you are any good anyway. Any idiot with a half functioning brain can win online with Anderson Silva.

          I agree

I got so sick of every match I played being against Frank Mir on the first 360 UFC game I think it was. Never touched online since but really wanna try this one online....

Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread

Might as well just automatically assume every random you play online going to choose the top rated fighter for that weight class and choose accordingly. From what I see so far after watching a dozen different people stream the retail version of the game, 99.9% of them suck at submissions and the ground game. They don't want any part of the ground game at all.

I'm seeing the following moves majority of the time:

            1. Showtime kick off the cage, apparently even heavyweights can do this move as well, which made me laugh.

            2. Cartwheel kick

            3. Head kick

            4. Power uppercut

            5. Super man punch

            6. Flying knee

So far, everybody seem to be just button mashing repeatedly, spamming the hell out of the modified strikes trying to get an instant KO within the first 2 minutes of the fight. Rock'em sock'em robots.....they get gassed, back up for a few seconds, then move forward for rock'em sock'em robots for another 30 seconds. Rinse and repeat for the entire fight.

Wow, that brought me back in time. I remember that too. They would just takedown and spam submissions with that "shine" or "wipe" system with the right stick. I forget what it was referred to as

                Thanks for the impressions man.

Is there a unranked online fight mode?

I hope so, because that is where I found more sim fights with the previous titles from THQ.

EDIT: Funny how the "Showtime Kick" has been transformed into "Everyone in the game who is near the cage kick." Funny and sad actually.

Sadly that fight style online will work and wont need to be adjusted much thanks to EA. Since their permanent stamina doesn't drain this can be done all fight. Skillz have you tried taking these bums down?
EA wants to be taken seriously but has Roy Nelson throwing kicks off the cage? Im so close to just saying screw it with this game. Every fighter having the side control slam too. Can that stuff not be easily patched out?

I don't care what anyone says, finishing a fight with an off the cage move is one of the most fun things I've done in a user vs user match.

It disappoints me that you can't see who your opponent picks online. Why would they do that?

I know I have my work cut out for me.

                      Ground game and submissions.

Must master them, so I can win online.

It's like that in every UFC game....but it will be even more important this year. The striking is so good this year that almost everyone will want to stand up and bang because its much more fun.

So if you can master the clinch and ground game, it should be easy pickings against most people.

Was watching a twitch feed, I saw Junior Dos Santos do a spinning back fist, he didn't have that move in UFC 3. Anyone with the game can tell me if all the fighters have the same moves?

Considering my ground and sub game is decent, I plan on racking up a solid string of easy wins release month.

Best wrestler or BJJ in each weight class that matches up well against the top guys.

Easy wins until I reach the guys who understand how to prevent takedowns, passes, and subs

I'm only allowed to talk about gameplay, and for the most part it's the only thing I actually have inside knowledge about anyway. Licensing is the thing I probably know the least about.
