What parts of YOUR game do you need to work on?

So I've been playing the game since launch, really digging it and went online for the first time to play randoms and had an ok time. Ran into mostly spammers and like most people got really frustrated after taking my 3rd straight loss because random dude kept kicking me in the belly.

The last fight was the one that really got me though because I couldn't get out of submissions and had to tap leaving me with controller and arm in boomerang throwing position.

So this thread is less about being frustrated and more about helping myself and others try to share techniques for specific kinds of things they are seeing online. The only way you can learn is if you understand what mistakes you are making right?

I am hoping to be more of submission expert, I actually really like the cat and mouse mechanics EA put into the game but find myself having trouble getting into subs and out of subs. I think I can play smarter against spammers but here is a start. If anyone has any strats or advice, reply away.

My style in these types of games has always been based around boxing since I come from the Fight Night series I prefer to keep things standing and throw punches and kicks and use my distance. So I guess my weakness is everything that doesn't involve boxing haha. Ground game is garbage for me so that's what I need to work on the most.

I definitely need to do a better job at preserving my stamina. I also suck at blocking takedowns (is it just R2 and down?)

I need to figure out how to avoid these damn sweeps. I can't do much work on the ground because I'm always getting reversed.

Escaping submissions. Against a real sub specialist, I find it hard to get out.

My clinch is probably the worst. Also my stand-up sucks ***. These brown belt games are hard...

I wanna go back to like blue belt so I can smash people who don't know how to escape mount or prevent submissions.

The side control sweep I cant read. I can read the guard sweeps.

I'm the opposite but I'm usually pretty good at getting back to a good position from being mounted. No one ever expects the hip escape back to half guard.

My strengths are my striking and my wresting is solid. Finally able to consistently block transitions and utilize some GnP. Surprisingly, I suck in the clinch. Thats the area I need the most work in. I thought my Jiu-Jitsu was weak before I used a good BJJ fighter. After I dominated with Frank Mir, I realized how much ratings actually matter. Not just stick skills.

Re: What parts of YOUR game do you need to work on?

I guess i'd say i need to improve my defense standing.

Online people spam the crap out of small jabs to the body area, and then get some BS knockout, and with these small punches there stamina barely moves, so they just keep throwing. Parry one body shot, and another 5 comes, then start blocking your body, and they attack your head. These small little jabs are overpowered. I started experiencing this in black belt matches.

I'm legit good at everything else, almost all of my losses have come on stupid knockouts from people spamming jabs and other little punches.

So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Clinch clinch clinch. Same as Undisputed. I'm pretty good on my feet, very good on the ground, and decent enough to get out of most submissions, but man can I not work the clinch for anything.

For being a newb I'm pretty solid all around. I was best at the Stand up game until I fell in love with the ground game now I just prefer to take everyone to the ground. I'd say my clinch and clinch transitioning need some work and maybe realizing I need to back off sometimes and regenerate some stamina.
