Re: For new users from the EA Forums

Yes we are strict but it isn't like we ask a lot guys. We're happy to have everyone.

This forum is built around conversation and constructive criticism to help games grow.

We realize that most that are new are coming to this site for the first time and that it isn't always an easy transition.

We ask a few basic things but mainly don't troll other users and don't troll game developers (this is not a unique rule to this game).

We have quite a few other rules that might be new to you but those are the biggest two and by in large, the new users here have been fantastic.

This isn't really a big ask and it's entirely up to you man.

If this is a sticking point to you then so be it but I can guarantee you that had you taken less time to just type the word out and let the filter do it's think versus taking the time to insert the asterisk we all would still have known the word.

Also, OS offers a lot outside of this single sub forum. Explore a bit, we don't stop at video game discussion. Some of you might find that you like it here more than you currently think.

Pretty sure this is a phpBB forum. Which means there is a lot of room for customization and much better mod tools. They can likely merge threads too. No clue why they don't do that more often if they can.

Why close a thread instead of putting it in one exactly like that one. Sure, the convo might get messed up at first, but it will revert to the same discussion. Many sites merge threads. It is actually nicer to do that than to close a thread that does have feedback. Some are best closed, but why not hide those? Message the OP and tell him why. There are enough mods to do that. People generally respond better when you close and message them why, and point them in the right direction. They do this on the CS:GO forums from what I've seen.

You can have strict forums, and still be nice. That is actually they best method for a strict forum. You don't want to embarrass new members. That leaves a lasting impression. I know I always sent someone a message when I closed a thread. All depended on the person as well. Some you have told, and they just won't conform. So you just bypass the niceness and close. Then close the thread they made to ask why their thread was closed. I would generally still explain why in my closing post. Still would get the thread asking why though.

These iare great boards, but there is always room for improvement.
For me it's plain and simple... Bigger is not always better, I loved the small feel of the forums and that everyone knew everyone pretty much and just the fun vibe it had.

To me these forums make you feel like you get lost and it just feels to big for me and just comming here for UFC only. I'm just not feelin this whole place.

To each of there own. I will still post and hang around but I won't be on here like the ea forums. The ea forums were small but to me it felt like a community and the fact it was not so strict in there whole approach was just a winner for me.

And yes I know the trolls were out of control but it never ever bothered me.

1 person issue ruined the forums for everyone and that's the truth!!!

A lot of that was because there was one mod. Yari. The other guy they had SirPsychoT was just way too strict. He banned Ace I believe for calling Jason Nawara a bum. Jason rarely even posted there, but he is a well liked journalist. Who funny enough, played a bum in a video.

It wasn't just one person that ruined it. It just led them to realize how outdated the forums were when they couldn't control it. The nature of the trolling is what got it closed. Better to send everyone to a forum where their real goal is met. I had to practically beg the devs to even go there because of their experience with it. They were on Reddit because the format was better. They didn't realize the feedback was better there. Once they did, we got a lot better game(s).

The fall of the forums is the forums themselves. There are plenty of league forums where people use it like you like. However, when you have a game that will have people close to 13 years of age, or younger, you have to have a safe environment.

Guarantee that never would have been allowed on the other forums for the game. They have a lot better system, and lots of mods and administrators. However, not many know about those even though we did the beta forums there.

I get people wanting a free for all type of atmosphere, but it just got out of hand, and the feedback was getting lost. That serves no purpose anymore. They were more harmful than good.

I understand that, and that's why I always tell people "To each of there own"

I'm sure the game is in better hands here anyways so it's all good, but don't mean I have to agree or like it. I'm just being an adult right now, trying my best not to cry or huff and puff because I can't get my way. ITS HARD!!!:

Welcome to those of you that are new to OS. I joined this site almost 10 years ago only looking for NCAA Football rosters. What I ended up finding was a community that actually has an impact on how the games we love are made. The developers listen to constructive criticism and praise for their love of the game their making. We hope you guys can add to the already great group we have here.

It's not wasting $20, at least to me.

I gave my donation not for the avatar or blue name but because I appreciated the maturity of the site and the interaction with the developers...I appreciated being heard (or read as SkyNet put it ) and seeing some of the feedback both I and other users provided actually implemented into the game.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Yeah, I supported for them taking on all of us EA forum guys. Not for the avatar or blue name, but because I appreciate what they are doing.

Big Cee likes to send me invites very frequently on ufc2, if he promises to limit to the fight invites to a reasonable number I'll unblock him and donate a dollar to his avatar fund. (As long as he pinky swears to keep it 100 safe for work so the military dudes that visit these sites don't get LORs, lol)
