I have gotten much better at clinch work since devoting more time in practice. I've noticed that if you can at least frustrate an opponent at a certain aspect of the game, they will move on to something else.

    Yep.

A practice mode in which you select the position and if you are the top or bottom player would be so incredibly helpful. I remember an old THQ version had this mode.

This mode could have a built in reset that could be modified in a few ways. For example, the position resets when:
    1.) position changes
2.) dominant and sub positions are swapped
3.) if you are practicing clinch (for example) the position is reset when clinch is broken, but continues throughout all clinch positions. (Ditto for the ground.)

Essentially take a very simple practice mode where you make 3 to 5 decisions on customization and bingo, we all get so much better at the things each of us complain about. (I'd love to learn to hold back control for days, understand rubber guard better... And I'm brain dead in N/S for some reason.) These could be practiced in no time, but with the wonky practice mode now, I may as well just do quick matches and work on the positions during a fight

Rocky Balboa's posts about clinch annoyed me. I'm not saying he's average, but I don't loathe clinch.

I started playing new profiles division 1 and 3, I mostly play quick match 6.

Nearly every match in division 1 or 3 quick match the clinch destroys people, they quit, and it's not fair imo.

Since I'm awesome at life I've been friending these dudes, I'm not great but I've been able to improve there game.
Clinch definitely has a very steep learning curve I'll give you that!

But to say it 'isn't fair' just b/c they haven't mastered the position....ehhh.....life isn't fair and MMA certainly isn't fair

I do wish they had a better tutorial or practice mode scenario for clinch. The denials are particularly tough to master, and if you didn't make your way to the forums...odds are it took you awhile to even realize that punches no longer stop transitions post-patch lol

Regarding clinch (and practice mode in general), say I want to practice double under. I have to transition probably at least twice to get there--far more if computer is denying me--and then once I am there, if I miss a denial I have to start over. It might to take a minute for each try. Back sitting dom or sub is even trickier to get into.

yup those two positions in particular are a couple of the most difficult to practice!

Not to mention Double Unders has a VERY small denial window; AND opposite denials to Over/Under; AND no strikes from Double Under stop transitions

Good luck getting lots of practice in that position
