    Average player base...

So, whenever i log into the game now i see on average around 6000 players..

Is there a strategy for long term player retention?

I mean i was fine with facing the same players last year over and over again, but the game hasn't hit the 6 month mark yet and i am already getting into that zone.

I also am upset that we are already crossing our fingers for the next time when lots of the same problems carried over from the first game into the second, whats to say that won't happen again with the next installment?

I don't like being negative all the time and I LOVE MMA games, but dang man when the game makes you more mad then when you are actually having fun that says something... i think the drop off in players means i am not the only one feeling this way.

I have done about 4 surveys for this game since release and they always ask the same questions, only problem is i have scored the game lower every time i have done the survey.

So i am just wondering, what do you guys think?

    Re: Average player base...

i think its a problem as the offline of this game is no good aswell.

    Career mode is lackluster
AI is only picking up now
Event mode is ok but its just a fancy exhibition matches in a way so meh.
Live events is ok but its just a quick mode to get UT packs.

Online numbers are dwindling now and you cant even look into offline to have some fun.

UT mode is now getting repetitive, i still dont know why they never added tournament mode for offline/online to go on the weekends at least. Some type of auction house needs to be in place, they can even set the prices for the cards at a price range, if they dont want to scamming/in real life trading to happen.

Ranked championships is alright however there is no incentive to use a lesser ranked fighter.

Gameplay still needs improving especially the stand up.

Rivarlies needs to get scrapped and replaced with a better mode for offline play like a universe mode or something.

Knockout mode needs to get a option for online but dont make it a ranked mode just like a quick match. Also there needs to be another option to set the chin/body/leg health at different stats like 10/50/100 so its just not who can kill the bars first.

They need to make a career mode memorable like UFC 3 that has alot of replayabilty.

Hopefully this constructive rant critiscm is seen.

I would guess the average player base plays a game for a few months and then stop, even if they love the game.

Only the hard core will play it for 2 years.

I don't know for sure, but that's my hunch.

I know that's my pattern for most games I play.

        Serious question:

Why do you think EA should be concerned about player retention? What do you think they could do to keep people playing the game?

Dont get me wrong. I completely understand why you would want a large and active online community. More people to play and I dont even play online much and I think it would be a good thing for the hardcore online players.

But how does that benefit EA financially? Sadly this is the question that matters most. They generate no extra revenue from you playing the game now.

It isnt even a situation like with FNC where EA can (and I think still) would sell advertising and put it in the game (on the ring canvas/corners etc). They are able to generate revenue from online players that way. I think the UFC would restrict that so that may not be an option here.

You could argue that a bigger community will lead to more sales with UFC 3 but I dont know if that matters. If the Dev team does what it should and we get deeper modes, a revamped standup, sliders, removal of the combo multiplier...hardcore fans will buy UFC 3 on release day. Shoot even if we get half of those things, I think most hardcore MMA gamers will still buy the game on release.

My expectation with every sports game is 6 mos tops. I expect the community to reduce after the first few months because other games come out and take their attention. Shoot, you guys wont see me around as much the minute Madden/Fifa/NBA2k drop in the fall.

Its the natural progression of games.

More people playing = more people hearing about and saying, 'hey maybe I should try UFC2'

They could get continual revenue from Ultimate team as well, I am sure they made a lot this time.

Maybe I am nostalgic, but I have good memories of playing Socom and Socom 2 back in the day and that game had so many players, even Fight Night R3 had many many players far into the games release.

I really hope that the next title will be come out before end of 2017. 2 years is veryyyyy long term.

i dont mind if they are putting in 100% to improve the game but with EA in any game it doesnt matter. i dont know how this game came out with worse career mode and AI. Online and grappling aspects were massively upgraded though.

The UT aspect is a good point but how many of you hardcore guys actually pay for UT coins? I thought most of them just grinded and earned them the old fashioned way.

Dont forget that we are in very different times. Take FNR3: It was the first combat sports game released for the 360 and PS3. It was the first "Wow" game for the 360 (I had a ton of friends who didnt like Boxing who owned that game because it looked great and there were so few 360 games).

It also sold 3 million total copies. So the community was naturally going to be bigger.

I would prefer the 2 years. They have a lot to do. If they overhaul the standup, that will take time. If they add or improve the offline modes, that will take time. Same with improving the AI. Anything less than 2 yrs would be too short imo.

I know why the AI was worse but why do you think Career mode was worse? They didnt do enough to improve it but it wasnt worse imo.

If that's the case then why is this game marketed for them?

Because EA wants everyone to buy the game. Hardcore and casual.

Shouldn't it be for the guys who are going to play longer though?

It was improved slightly but not enough from a 2 year release from ea ufc.

There was obvious bugs that needed patching within the career mode, it was like they never played through it to test it.

Copy and pasted ultimate fighter start, everyone wanted to start in a fake league then have the option to join the ultimate fighter or wait till they get a UFC contract offer.

No interaction with other fighters or UFC

Unrealistic Bad AI made it unappealing from the start, i remember on release playing on pro, i thought it would be a struggle but it felt like i was playing on easy it got boring real quick.
