No Worries
If you double left click on the pictures, they show up bigger in good quality and the first one is where the boxxing ring is seen.Last edited by manliest_Man; 06-07-2017, 11:24 AM.Comment

Why would you hope it only launches on console? is that an ego thing? is it to do with the fact we can produce 60fps or more consistently via a pc and be able to modify the graphics settings? seems a little bit spiteful of you.
In all fairness EA are losing out capitalising on a massive gaming fan base, especially when fight games are very popular on PC aswell.Comment

This year's big mystery fighter???
Floyd Mayweather.
Oh wait, he's bringing his boxing gloves with him and he's got a pair for Conor McGregor.

Re: EA SPORTS™ UFC 3 is coming in early 2018 - Polygon
Anyone know if UFC has kept the rights to edit fighter ratings and stats for final approval for UFC 3?
If would be nice to see this outsourced to some very a panel of folks who are highly knowledgeable across the board. While independence won't ever be reached, they could at least take input from a cross section of carefully selected people:
Example Panel:
1.) Media: Jordan Breen, Patrick Wyman, Luke Thomas
2.) Trainers (this may be an awful idea): List any 2-3 who are students of the game and halfway trusted to be on the objective end
3.) Current/Former fighters proven to be willing to criticize friends and training partners (or who'd do it behind closed doors). Those with the understanding of the sport like Dominick Cruz
Probably a better way, but there has to be a way to get this out of UFC's hands so we don't end up with stupid OP characters like McGregor and LawlerComment

Its not really about "keeping the rights". Its the UFC's license so they can decide whether they want to provide input on fighter ratings or not. With that said, its too early to know if they will want to provide the same input they have in the past. There was a lot of turnover after the WME purchase so its possible they wont care as much.
Regarding your idea, I have a feeling EA will keep it in house with a little bit of outside input. Guys like Breen and Thomas have been really outspoken about the UFC in the past so I doubt they would be OK with them being involved with ranking the fighters in their game.Comment

That all makes sense. Wasn't sure if the license was re-upped recently, and EA found a way to use some leverage for artistic license or something. Its not really about "keeping the rights". Also, like you said there has been a lot of turnover. You may know more about who was hands on, but let's hope said person was replaced by someone who is less of a micro manager. Even I feel it's a swap of Joe Silvia for Shelby or something.
Also, the funny thing is, Journalists like Jordan Breen and Luke Thomas certainly aren't getting the call, you are spot on... yet, they are precisely the types who'd put the effort in, and who have the relative knowledge to put together accurate stats and strengths/weaknesses using a rank order of talent, and the magnitude of difference separating each fighter stats...oh well!Comment

I agree. I would love to have guys like Thomas, Wyman and Connor Rebusch help with the rankings. That all makes sense. Wasn't sure if the license was re-upped recently, and EA found a way to use some leverage for artistic license or something.

I'll drop another one of my vague statements that says something but doesnt really say anything now:
I hated the rankings in UFC 2. I hate how they were structured. I hate that guys like Conor were artificially increased in areas they arent good at so that their OVRs were high. I hate how some people had skills decreased so they wouldnt have too high of an OVR. I spoke to the devs about this months ago.....and I love their planned approach for UFC 3.
I cant confirm that this will happen (things can always change) but if it happens I think most of the serious complaints wont exist in UFC 3.Comment

McGregor's juiced up ground game might the biggest offender. Lawler's speed and endurance are right behind.I agree. I would love to have guys like Thomas, Wyman and Connor Rebusch help with the rankings.

Can't wait to see the next version (assuming it's a move toward being more, not less, accurate).Comment

Did you ask anything about why they can't just let us edit ratings ourselves, like every other sports game on the market? This would solve so many complaints in the womb.I agree. I would love to have guys like Thomas, Wyman and Connor Rebusch help with the rankings.

If they were consistent with updates and support then I wouldn't mind the ratings as much. But they basically give you 6 updates a release and then move on.
But yeah, OVR ratings shouldn't be based on well-roundedness, they should be based on your strengths. Lots of elite strikers don't have to be elite on the ground in order to justify OVR ratings in the 90s. People like Conor and Joanna are great at NOT fighting on the ground and forcing their opponents to stand up, and should be rewarded for that. Not given juiced up ground ratings so they can fight like Daniel Cormier.Comment

Ive asked but havent been able to get an answer. Keep in mind, no UFC game (even the THQ ones) let you edit rosters so its possible that its a UFC and not an EA thing.Did you ask anything about why they can't just let us edit ratings ourselves, like every other sports game on the market? I think the lack of updates has to do with the way the game is structured. Unlike most sports games, this game doesnt have a roster file so roster updates can only be done through a patch and there are only so many patches the UFC team can do.Comment

Re: EA SPORTS™ UFC 3 is coming in early 2018 - Polygon
Maybe the solution that would please UFC, and those playing the game would be to eliminate the 'overall' rating entirely.
If the argument for overall ratings is that it is a must for casual MMA fans who need a guide, then perhaps the roster can be stratified into tiers. Top 10 Fighters get an A, the next 40 a B, and so on.
Hell, moving toward a tiered and graded system need not correspond with the overall (but should be close). That way UFC can manipulate some tier ratings on the margin without impacting player performance in the slightest bit.Comment
