They don't have a grasp of the controls and they get wrecked so they complain about the game.

When did you see that match? In my first hour? or my tenth straight hour?
I didn't post untill I had almost 12 straight hours of gameplay under my belt.

I agree tho, that im still not to a place where I can throw the strikes im thinking about, for the openings I see every time, but i just feel like I can't actually set anything up. Movement and counterstriking doesn't feel viable to me. I feel like I have no time to do anything but run 90% of the time, because the forward combos cover so much distance so fast, and stamina regens instantly, and they never stop coming. I try to duck. get smashed. Try to slip. get smashed. Just non stop hurricane of combo death crashing into me constantly.

Even when I get someone playing more paced, I still feel stuck in the mud and unable to set anything up or engage on my own terms. I know fighting logic and knowledge. But I can't seem to implement my knowledge with any effect.

Nooo way. This I can't agree with. I'm seeing crazy stuff man.. Everyfight is a pretty huge joke imo. I havent seen anything even close to realistic unless im playing with league friends. Almost every fight in quick match has been hilariously bad and out of control insane. Non stop hyper speed combos and instant stamina regen, and like 10 knockdowns every fight.

You need to practice your slips while moving. It's king when it comes to defense in this game. Always keep your head off the center line when you walk forward or engage and you will be nailing counters in no time. Trust me it works. I've only lost 2 fights so far and they were early on.

So far, I ****ing demolish those people by playing realistically. Let them miss, slip shots, throw feints, and counter to the body.

If you pace yourself and play strategically, they will deplete their stamina and be totally screwed by round 3.

Another tip to add to that: You can throw strikes while moving sideways too, not just forward and back.
So if you slip to the left (orthodox), then keep moving in that direction while holding UP on the left stick, and throw a hook, you will circle around while the hook is thrown.

Thnx for the tips. I'll try to implement these into my game.

Re: Number one tip for stand up

Is there any high level gameplay videos where people demonstrate this? I've tried ducking frequently while moving forward/backwards and drilling uppercuts etc, but most of the time when I move my head side to side, duck or lean back I get clobbered.

I love the standup aspect in this game, but I don't understand it at all - almost all my fights end up with me getting dropped, and either getting finished or I catch em in a sub/gnp.

I wish I could man. I tried to upload a video I recorded in PS4 and it said I had clips that weren't allowed. I can try again when I get home though.

that's what i do... but they need to fix the combo 1-2-1-2... in real life 1-2 its a basic combination with a little risc... 1-2-1-2 is a high risk combination since u can get countered in the second jab... also the speed on the second jab and straight should be slower ... can't be faster

Loving the standup so far. I DO wish I could block while using head movement though.

I am loving this game so far but man, I am struggling. I have no experience in MMA games apart from UD3 and EA UFC 1 and 2. I got pretty decent at UFC 2, being able to attack and defend myself in all aspects of the game. UFC 3 is proving to be difficult, forcing me to adapt and learn the new control scheme. I know I'm the problem and not the game. At this point, I just need to really study the controls and start memorizing combinations and fighter strengths/weaknesses.

Also, for the life of me in practice mode I couldn't do Conor McGregor's back spinning body kick. What's it called in the game? The move previews don't work in the beta.

When they’re too aggressive my favorite is to slip the straight then land a jab, uppercut and hook, so brutal. Had a few one punch ko’s By slipping the jab and leading with a heavy right hook

MOst of the feints are too slow to use effectively, only ones I find effective are when I feint the quick strikes after a stationary head sway
