Your name is literally "Counter punch" and you cant figure out how to deal with someone who always starts with a jab and only does two variations in this scenario? Just slip and counter or block the jab and slip and counter the straight..

We're more talking about elite players who set a pattern and then change it and rock you a billion times but the base pattern is just being extremely defensive then throwing jab straight, then mix in a hook as soon as you try to use head movement.Comment

If you make them whiff, even just 2 or 3 times with this combo, the elite players will stop throwing this and try something else.

If you're not against an elite player and they continue to do this and you continue to make them whiff and miss, you'll soon find yourself at a stamina advantage and counters will hurt. Even if you just slip the jab and throw a straight.

Maybe they have a game monitor or something because the millisecond I lean to either side I get clipped with a hook. I end up getting my block murdered .If you make them whiff, even just 2 or 3 times with this combo, the elite players will stop throwing this and try something else.

How do you input the different slips because it doesn't seem to be explained in-game or am I missing something? I know there's major and minor slips. Is it LT+(flick the stick) for major and just (flick the stick) for minor?Comment

Re: EA UFC 3: Teach Me How To Thread: Tips, Strategies, Tutorials

For head movement - slips, sways, ducks - you're using the right stick. A small flick in each direction will minor sway in that direction. A longer push in that direction and you'll major sway in that direction.

Example: You're in Red corner and your opponent throws a straight from southpaw. If you do a small flick down, you'll slip the straight and can return.

How does single collar whip work? Is it actually a mix-up or what?

I've never in my life landed a knee to either body or head and I've tried both..a lot..

I've also never been hit and didn't do anything other than just hold block..

 I'm confused..Comment

Re: EA UFC 3: Teach Me How To Thread: Tips, Strategies, Tutorials

 - Push to create distance, then keep them out by throwing your own strikes while moving & using push kicks to create more distance
 - Remember to circle back to the center and not just walk back in a straight line
 - As they're moving in to hugging range, throw a knee/elbow of your own (if your fighter can).
 - Try to time major lunges (sidways) as they're throwing a knee to make them miss horribly and open up counters
 - Backsway elbows & throw counter strikes
 - Occasionally stand your ground. Wait for when you think they're going to throw a knee and blast them with the death combo (jab upper hook hook)

 Or just clinch/take them downComment

Re: EA UFC 3: Teach Me How To Thread: Tips, Strategies, Tutorials

Submission gates. Played a few games with Nate Diaz. One match I ended up submitting Poirier with the Omplata from rubberguard - only needed to fill two gates whereas normally it's five gates.

Anyway, I've tried replicating this against AI but always seems to be five gates instead of two.

I understand damage plays a part - but the two gate submission was early in the first round - I hadn't done much damage to his block.

I've tried doing it with a big stamina advantage and also with grapple meter full but that's not happening either.

Anyone able to explain when a submission will require less gates to pull it off?

Re: EA UFC 3: Teach Me How To Thread: Tips, Strategies, Tutorials

Just to add, when I say damage plays a part... I recall wining with Ortega using the Darce - that was only two gates too, but normally it's five. I had recently just done a lot of damage to his head so presumably that's why.

Trying the omplata in practice - even if his head is badly damaged, I'm still getting the five gates.

I'm thinking the block would have to of been very very low before giving me a two gate sub? But even if we are standing and I break his block, by the time he takes me down, I pull guard, get him into rubberguard, land couple elbows and get two denies - I'm thinking his block would have recovered.

In conclusion - I've no idea what determines these two gate submissions. Help

Re: EA UFC 3: Teach Me How To Thread: Tips, Strategies, Tutorials

What's the best way to clinch against the AI? I'm pretty good at timing takedowns, but clinching is an issue for me.

I'd love to be able to fight better as Ronda Rousey or Daneil Cormier, but the only times I find myself in the clinch, it takes a few attempts and my stamina is then shot for the remainder of the fight.

 Tips?
