How would you deal with this?

Fought some idiot on ranked using A. Silva vs me using Weidman. He did literally nothing but hold block, throw elbows and knees going forward. Cant take him down, cant clinch. He blocks everything and going for body shots just gets you cracked by an elboe or knee... went 5 rounds before it got to the point even blocking my body Id get put into an event...

Ignoring takedowns and clinch, since the inputs suck and he’s got his finger on R2 the entire time anyway. What options do you have to win?

Why can't you take down or get in the clinch?

When someone holds block you have grapple advantage

Use TDs. You can also kick the hell out of him from range. Back dash then kick.

That guy was streaming on YouTube lol.
Least I think its the same guy.

You should’ve ducked and uppercut bro!!!!

Elbows have the shortest range in the game, so do knees... go into practice mode and use the recording feature to drill some strategies.

You can only move so much, especially when someone is just walking forward holding block so they’re right in your face. So short range means nothing.

Takedowns are ****, I’d shoot after his 2 elbows, and he’d stuff it. Or I eat a knee. You can’t set them up with strikes due to the delay either..

Clinch pointless as he’s ready to deny it. I would duck and try to uppercut, or throw body shots, but eat an elbow, or knee. Id even try to land my own elbow but really I couldnt find anything that would work, it was frustrating as ****. Lol

            Move/feint/ kick his body/legs

You cant just walk through strikes anymore

Or after he’s done throwing you can land you own combos.

It sounds simple enough but i’d need video to see if he’s doing anything special

You should be able to jab him as soon as he opens up for the elbows. Jabs are the quick strike you can throw and should intercept his elbow.

Stay in front of him, hit him without moving, your shots will be more fluid.
Mix high and low. Show him you are ready for bang!

I actually love dudes that do this.. By round 3, I have such a stamina advantage that I can literally just walk them down and pick them apart most of the time.

And have longer range than elbows.

I think overall, especially if the guy is skilled at it, maintaining range and using long range strikes will be key.

                    At least in theory.

Without looking at the ratings im assuming Silva has way higher footwork so if he’s good at pressuring maintaining distance might be difficult.

But i think the small dashes are underutilized by most.
