I realized the problem w/ submissions

I finally got a conclusion about what's difference in comparison to UFC 2. Since beta I noticed something was different. It's harder to submit someone in general, but harder to escape either. However, my perception is based mostly on offline matches.

What I realized is this: when there is a big stamina gap between the attacker and the defender, the speed of progression doesn't change (or the change is very small). What changes is the speed of the gates. They show up faster. That means 3 things (I was able to identify):

1. Less time to the defender escape.
2. Faster escape if the defender manages to not be blocked (something hard to accomplish!).
3. No room for error by the attacker. Any error (the gates get closer) basically means the submission won't happen.

I play mainly offline too, and when I apply a sub to a good sub fighter at full stamina. Their escape gates move reeeeally quick, gas them out and it slows to a crawl.

I played a 100ovr in all areas York Romero in career last night, he took me down, I got a triangle, he escaped in a flash. I denied him and let him gas and reapplied the triangle. He was slow as hell by comparison and I got him with a 4 gate triangle.

I think there are other nuances to the system I'm missing, but stamina definitely affects gate speed.

Like, even if my advancement prompts were 10x quicker he still would have escaped the first triangle his escape bars filled that fast.

I can't say 100%, but I think I've noticed this as well. Some friends and I were talking about this last night as I was playing some ranked at their house. Tried to submit Jacare middle of the first round with Demian and couldn't do it. Went another round and by the time the third one began he had wasted a good chunk of his stamina trying to get out from under me/chasing me with strikes. Got him down again, went for the same submission I had earlier in the fight (Inverted Triangle) and seemed to all of us in the room that the gates themselves went by noticeably quicker. Maybe like 3-5 seconds quicker, if not slightly more than that 'cause it's hard to estimate units of time that small.
