Yuke’s had a different ethos. They weren’t afraid to give a wrestler 60 kick offence or submission offence if they weren’t very proficient or effective with them. They used a lot more of the stat range. Bob Sapp has absolutely awful submission defence (50). Prime Cro Cop has 55 submission offence (which makes sense since he was almost a pure kickboxer, especially early in his career). Almost every fighter felt realistically varied and unique.

EA never go below 80 and thus everyone feels like slightly worse/slower clones than the champ. Doesn’t help that almost every fighter has the same striking animations sans jabs/straights.

I'm actually looking closer at what each stat is now and what you're saying is actually easy to see. And when I consider the 85s the way I consider FIFA 85s it all falls into place. I guess I just need to recalibrate my MMA game stats approach .

Yeah, I'm all for such differentiation and the understanding of the styles make fights concept. It's great to see implemented by Yukes.

Dude has a weird jaw structure almost impossible to recreate in UFC 3. Well thats my Greg Hardy.

The entire creation system in the game makes things difficult, nice work!

Any advice on how to use gameface? Does it automatically replace any preset face there is or do I have to combine them so it can work best? Also, how do you guys get the side picture to work? I tried three different face off pictures of Sandhagen, zoomed in and out, but the markers won't register the face properly and remain red with the exception of the chin ones. Thanks!


Edit: fook that, I managed.

However — did you all know you could edit the gameface on the page after you're done? It gives you hair and facial hair options that aren't available in the game, you can also sculpt the face there, etc. I assume the hairs and beards are taken from FIFA. Damn, that's neat.

My advice on how to use GameFace...don't lol. The steps I have to go through to get a finished product is painstaking. The only way I can get an import to work is on an old dell laptop using Windows 7. To complicate the matter I have to run three different browsers that may or may not work depending on the day. And IF I do get an import to work half of the pictures won't allow me to edit the facial points even with properly sized pictures. If by chance everything goes well I can't do any further customisation and need to open up GameFace on my iMac because for some reason after the import GameFace will work on my Mac, go figure.

If I make it to that point I have to pray to the GameFace gods that I'm able to import the CAF into UFC3 and get a manageable skin colour or a result that doesn't look like an alien from outer space.

I will say though, IF everything goes to plan you can get some pretty realistic CAF's.

Very much hoping things are ironed out for the new game.
