    Idea for Knockdowns

    So I came up with a little idea that I think can help make things a bit more realistic in the knockdown department. I'm sure most have seen some of the ridiculous amount of knockdown numbers some ppl have got in a fight and while this is kinda due to the play style of some, it's crazy seeing double digit knockdowns in a round. Unless it's Mario, a ref would never let fighters take so much beating or the fighter would get finished long before he was knocked down that amount of times. So some have you may have already seen it before on other threads, but for those who didn't here is what I came up with...


    Active&Alert Knockdown Threshold: So this threshold would only exsist within rounds. Basically what this will do is only allow so many active or alert knockdowns to occur per round. After a round is over and a new one starts, the threshold resets. The way it works is after the threshold number is passed, all following knockdowns suffered within that round would be regular knockdowns that allow you to potentially finish the fight. If I had it my way, that threshold number would be three. After three knockdowns, all others would be regular knockdowns going to a finish the fight position. I feel like having something like this in place would make things more realistic with the knockdowns as we wouldn't be seeing any ridiculous amounts of knockdowns anymore and fights would be finished more often. Let me know what you guys think.

    I'd like to see less knockdowns and instead fighters randomly stumble to the front, back, right and left. Problem solved for me.

      This already exists. It's the Chin mechanic.

      It might need to be made more pronounced, though.

        Really? But is the threshold different per fighter based on their chin? I wonder whats the threshold number cuz fighters are going down in record numbers in a round...all active and alert knockdowns. With what i'm talking about, it wouldn't be possible for an active or alert knockdown to happen to a fighter more than 3 times in a round.

          I think it's the same for everybody. And I really think it shouldn't vary per fighter. There is already Head Strength that varies.

          BTW, kudos for having thought of this mechanic. It's the one GPD conceived. Great minds think alike. The one I had thought in its place, long ago, wasn't as good a mechanic.

            Every fight is similar to McGregor vs Alvarez.

            It’s like every fighter is blessed with McGregor’s left hand and Alvarez’s durability.

            This is a tricky thing though because you see fighters like Yancy Medeiros, who can come through hell and end up finishing their opponent.

              Should be 3 knockdowns max in all fight more than that is already brain damage party.....referee stoppage should be added too

                Yeah, this is already how it works as solid said, but there's a couple of flaws I didn't pick up on until seeing some footage after the full release.

                What solid said is the simple one. We can tune how much chin each health event takes off to progress to more severe states quicker.

                The other is a bit more subtle.

                Currently as chin goes down, the health overkill window needed for an active kd gets extremely small. As small as -5.

                But for some reason that doesn't seem to reduce it's frequency the way I wanted.

                Apparently a lot of KDs just break zero by a tiny bit.

                So I'm going to add a mechanism to convert an active kd to an alert kd if chin is below a certain threshold.

                  What about leg kicks and body Knockdowns they dont have the chin mechanic ofc also the important thing is reducing the knockdowns in general not just the active ones.

                    Less active knockdowns, maybe a perk that disables active knockdowns for some fighters that love guard play.

                      Even Normal Knockdowns most of the time dont let you get on top maybe too fast recovery time(they are very rare right now,most of the time is active knockdown or KO nothing else) add 5 seconds after a knockdown so we have time to get on top and looks like we did some damage
