    Block idea

Just had an idea i thought i will share, see what you think
What if high block was a skill?
Lets say you block high, because we cant move our head when blocking anyway, what about flicking the right stick to determine position of your hand
Example: holding block and flicking right blocks left hooks better than right hooks and the opposite.
That way there will need to be a bit of skill with blocking and harder to tank forward

We had this in "hard block" in EA's first iteration if I recall correctly. I liked the first games blocking because it would move to the strike and side the opponent was attacking and the animations looked pretty cool when there was a back and forth.

You would hold both block and your bottom two (legs) or top two (arms) buttons to block more damage.

Well it wont work here because elbows and knees
I think flicking the right stick to determine hand position and adding stamina drain to head movement will make the current style a lot more skill based, and i personally wont feel bad if someone beat me with skill as oppose to abusing mechanics

What about knees and uppercuts, or front kicks to the face?

              There will be 3 ways:
Right for shots that come to your right side
              Left for left side
And neutral for middle strikes(straight, knee, front kick)
Based on the block used bleedthrough and damage will change

it could work but its something that may need testing, i know alot of people will complain its too difficult.

I'm not a fan of directional block because I think predicting which side they'll attack is more of luck than skill. IRL, you'll always be able to tell he's going for a right hook instead of a left hook, but in a game, not really

Would regular high block still exist.

                      Yes
The whole point behind this idea is to "nerf" the high block by adding skill to it
Right now you need 4 shots to break the block( 3 straights and a hook, 3 hooks and a straight ect...)
By adding direction to block, you can make it break easier if you block the wrong direction
Example: i hold high block without a direction and my opponet throws 4 straight shots. My block wont break because i blocked right so i am rewarded for it.
But lets say i block to the left and my opponent throws a straight, left hook, straight.
The first straight will have more bleedthrough than if its thrown to a neutral high block because it partially lands.
The left hook will have significant bleedthrough and block damage because its the open side and the third straight will break the block.
Using a system this way will make players think twice before standing in your face because they will need time to react accordingly to the shots thrown and not just take em on the block and move forward.
We can simplify it a bit by using the principle of justin gaethge block: holding r2 for straight punches and r2+r1 for curved punches. This will be easier but still require more skill. The whole point behind this idea is to make in fighting a skill. If your goid at it, i dont care if i lose to you, but now its quite cheap
