Is there a way to circle out?

Back against the cage and trying to circle out, but all I’ve figured out is the lateral lunge, which doesn’t cover enough distance. It just looks like I’m trying to dance my way out of danger.

Is there a way to bound laterally, essentially like running sideways to circle out?

Re: Is there a way to circle out?

I remember UD3 had something like sideways strafing, but maybe I am misremembering.

    Would be useful.

If nothing else movement speed should be tied to footwork, so we can have fighters moving at various paces, not to mention the possibility of slowing down movement while blocking so pure movement will be fastest.

As for current in game tactics. The advanced lunges work best to either cut off and corner opponents or to circle out.

I told GPD that the lunges weren’t effective and cover little distance and he didn’t seem to agree all he said was footwork rating plays a part in it

        Well that’s unfortunate.

Kinda feels like boxing game movement with MMA style move sets.

          Can you circle out? Yes.
Can you effectively circle out? No.

I tried this last night, trying to just use footwork and stay out of striking range against various AI's.

You basically have to spam long lunges constantly to keep distance. Circling only really works if you double lunge left or right once theyve got you near the.cage.

Advancing strikes seem to cover more ground than any form of retreat excluding the long back lunge.

I still think its because everyone moves at the same speed on basic forward/backward, left right movement, CM Punk can walk down Wonderboy as quick as wonderboy can back up. And he can also add advancing strikes to that forward momentum to cover even more ground.

I then tested it from the other side, I played as Alvarez and glued myself to AI Barbozas face, he couldn't make space, he simply couldn't, given eddies shorter reach I was able to cancel most of his striles as he attempted them and just stick on him, while he constantly tried to create space.

GPD has said some fixes are coming, so that's a plus. This is about my only issue with the game ATM.

Maybe circling out from the cage shouldn't be easier than now. However, maybe stalking people to the cage, like a tank should be made harder.

              Both

Fighters with great movement are damn near impossible to trap against the cage because they can fluidly change direction and reset distance.

You cant really do that effectively this year.

Agreed, getting your back off the cage feels fine, however circling everywhere else does not.

I just think the problem is with the "keeping distance" part. Escaping the cage itself when already glued to it, should be difficult. You can currently do a double side lunge, but it's risky, as it should be.

The issue is the lack of distance covered by the lunges and the fact that they no longer smoothly flow into strikes/ head movement.

And getting off the cage for guys with great footwork shouldnt be too difficult. Dangerous? Yes

But if you manage to back Cruz to the fence he’s not gonna be stuck to it like a mouse trap.

It's extremely easy to be cornered in this game though, so it makes no sense to also make it so risky to get away from the cage.

I personally just want more control of my fighter’s movement. I can move quickly side-to-side. Why can’t my fighter?

I really really hope to see the side circling movement in the game like this gif.

JDS, Holm... they used the side step often as big circling movement for escape to an opponent's pressure. We need that for out-fighting. Just put stamina drain when circling out and then It wouldn't be OP.

I have found that to get more side circling out from the cage use L1 + RS,the right stick alone is not enough but when you add the L1 you will see a lot more movement even though not as much as UFC 2. If EA looked at ufc fights it shows some fighters are so fast circling off the cage they end up behind the other fighter.

I don't have many issues circling away I feel most people don't have the movement down just yet i see a lot of move foward then back up. I like to use a lot of various movements flicks of the left stick with or with out the L1 advanced lunges with L1 right stick it works well for me with fighters with high footwork and I feel it frustrates my opponents into overextending on strikes but it does have it flaws Ive been KOed circling into shots
