    First foray into ranked

I had my first foray into ranked tonight, and got only one win in the placement fights. I’m placed at the prestigious #1,106 lol. Any other long time players here that really blow when it comes to online?

Just do what everybody else does, make a very safe choice by choosing Daniel Cormier, this way whether the fight is standing or on the ground you'll be unstoppable.

Better yet, you'll make every other fighter on the roster almost completely useless. Jimi Manuwa? More like Jimi Manure! Of course DC is a god and nobody in the division stands a chance against him, let's keep it this way.

Lol me too. I’ve found Khabib to be my new favorite so far, on a two fight win streak.

Khabib is perfect because he's good at making the rest of the roster useless as well. Super safe choice because whether it's standing or on the ground you'll still have a massive advantage. Just don't waste your time choosing guys like Ross Pearson, or even Nate Diaz who is almost useless off his back and can't even throw a basic jab body kick combo.

That’s pretty good considering that I actually don’t even have a number. My 1000 number was division points.

What is it that makes DC so OP? I truly don't get it, but I hear it all the time (I don't play ranked though so that might be why?)

But yeah, it confuses me. He has some sweet grappling but he only has lvl 2 boxing combos on the feet (unless they updated his combo set)

I've played a few DC's online in unranked, one choked on Saki Bombs, the other one I was OSP and he got me down, but I kept getting back up easily because he didn't deny and eventually knee'd him in the face as he shot a double.

I had one bumrush me when I was Gus, and that was hard to deal with due to the reach frame advantage he had, but I mauled him on the ground for the win.

Is it just the fact he has really well rounded stats or something? Or is it that frame advantage? Or a combination of both.

Like, GSP in the right hands I imagine would be a plauge of ranked as he has all sorts of unorthodox moves and awesome grappling, but I would've thought Gus or Jones would've been the LHW go to, not DC.

Personally, I'm a Saki man, that dude is a killer and that change to the ground stats from the first patch makes it surprisingly easy to survive being on the ground with Saki.

Pretty sure at higher skill levels DC is gnarly on the ground and clinch. (I think EA forgot about Silva fight)

With the new striking he's much more viable in the striking than the last games.

Oh for sure, he's a beast, I just don't get why he's thought to be OP is all, obviously reach mattered way too much in the first two games so a short reach fighter like DC was always at a disadvantage, but if I was fighting a good player and they went DC I'd just expect grappling and basic boxing and choose accordingly (So.. Gus, Glover or my boy OSP)

Like, I'm always destroying his AI with those guys, obviously the AI doesn't hold a candle to a good player but I dunno.. I just don't get why he is OP. He's a pretty accurate representation of DC, who admittedly, in the shallow *** division that is LHW, is OP.. its not unrealistic, atleast.

If I was gonna call anyone at LHW OP it'd be Gus or Glover, good reaches, but not too long and thus slowed a la JBJ, hands of stone, combos and a very good ground game.

Then again, maybe the difference between at 90 TD and a 94 TD make a world of difference at super high level play?

                    I honestly wouldn't know.
I don't come across many people (or really any since the beta) who can out grapple me in quickfight and I'm too record obsessed to moved to ranked.. I'm honestly worried I'd cheese to keep a perfect record, so I just don't play ranked, though ill start after the patch cycle is over and the game is all balanced and hopefully cheeseproof.

Reach was in a great place the first two games

Now it doesnt matter at all since measuring range/footwork is terrible.

The only change needed was shorter fighters having more power inside and longer fighters needing to be at proper range to get max damage on strikes.

But since reach/footwork are nerfed we have the current phonebooth meta

We maybe playing a different game. Nate is good off his back and can punch the crap out of people. He puts on an aggressive pace at range.

My dude the moment you decide to jump into the dark abyss that is ranked and get 1500 division points your perspective of this game will change DRASTICALLY.

I thought I was unstoppable on Quick Fights that I got so bored of KO'ing people with ease. So I hopped on ranked and experienced great success until I ran into the same techniques used by the same people using the same fighters. It will most certainly change your mind but until then maybe you are better avoiding it!

There's some good players you will run across in ps4 quick match. Good strikers anyways. I don't think I've ever had a quick match fight in ufc 3 against someone I consider good at grappling.
