Takedown reversal not counting as takedown

When I reverse or counter a takedown with a judo throw why doesn’t it count as a takedown for me? I know I’m the one that initiated the grappling exchange but I did get the takedown.

To be clear, I’m talking about the takedown counters with RT+LT and Left or Right on RS.

I don't know. In the last game denying and ending up in dominant mount also gave your opponent a successful takedown in the stats. Iirc

It's just something else broken about the grappling system most likely.

Countering a Takedown with a throw should yield a +1 Takedown for you and a -1 Takedown for them. Countering a Takedown with a reversal (turning them over) where the knee has already hit the mat (double shot for instance) would not count as a Takedown for you but should be a -1 Takedown attempt for them.

Kudos to you for even pulling those off. I just never try for them. Its ironic, when I wrestled in high school that was my primary defense. Its called a pancake. I would pancake or shrug to get around them. In this game, I love the takedown but never even attempt that move.

What is the timing like to pull it off? What happens if you whiff?

If you know your fighter has that throw it's the same as regular takedown denial. Submissions on TD attempts work the same way.

For me it’s actually easier than sprawling because its a second line of defense and works great against Khabib, GSP and Maia. The easiest to do is pressing up RS for double unders because it avoids the clinch, if you’re already in the clinch and they shoot its easy to go left or right.

It takes a minute to program your self to do it but I worked it out in practice mode and it was more efficient for my style. Which is keeping Khabib/GSP on there feet.

It doesn’t work while you’re rocked or most times after you throw a kick.

I don’t think it works on power modified takedowns either but I’m not 100% sure on that.

If you whiff you just get taken down.

              They work on power takedowns.
