What's the deal with blocking punches from your back?

I brought up this issue when the game first came out and was told that I didn't know what I was talking about. Either my head health or block was drained too low and that's what was causing it. Months later I still have this problem constantly. I don't think I've seen it mentioned around here, so I'm trying to get more insight. I know I can't be the only person who has experienced this.

A tired RDA gets full mount on me and hits me with two punches while I tried to quickly transition. Cool, that's no problem. I then tried to block the next two punches but Diaz does nothing but lay there looking dead. From there, I attempted to transition and block, just trying to get him to do anything. Eventually, Diaz wakes up from his deathbed and moves to half guard.

I've had examples even worse than that, but this is the first one that I actually made a point of recording. So what's the deal with this? Why do my characters just sit there with their arms around their head getting blasted while I try to block? I wasn't hurt prior to this sequence or during it, and my block status was fine. If I'm really that hurt just let the guy finish me.

I know that GPD said he plans on working on the ground game soon, so I hope this gets looked at. For one, I need to be able to block if my health status allows for it. And secondly, something needs to be done about the animation in general. I shouldn't look like I just got hit with a death blow only to calmly roll over a second later. It's just so weird looking. I not even going to get into ground sways, that far beyond where we're at now.

    1. Your stamina was depleted so that is tough in that position

    2. When you get that helpless broken block animation. I quickly release block then hold it again. But with that stamina so low it probably wouldn’t have mattered

Diaz stamia was fine.. 80% vs nothing.

I also have this problem when i try to arm grab.
And most of the time i only try to move after 3 blocked punch but i get hit during transition until dead with gsp and his 95 bot.

      Dont happens a lot hoppefully.

You consider my health in that situation being depleted? I'm seriously asking and making sure you're not looking at RDA.

And when I get in those situations, I do release and hold block and often nothing happens. If this is all user error, I'll accept it, but I don't feel like that's all it is.

I think it may have something to do with trying to arm trap, intended or not(transition as they strike while block still held or block doesn’t release right away) if you fail an arm trap it seems to lock you out of block for a second or two, especially nasty in half guard postured where strikes come so fast

You actually are blocking in those situations, but the animation doesn't reflect the damage reduction. That animation is implemented for telling you you're about to get TKOed. Sometimes you've just had too much damage done to escape the animation.

He is correct. It is very misleading and sort of puts you in a panic to transition, even though you can likely block 2-3 more strikes before your block is actually broken.

I understand why they did it, like RetractedMonkey said it shows you are about to get TKOed. But it has always just made me think my block was already gone prematurely.
