Fair enough, no Aldo or DJ?

DC is in the solid 2nd tier for me of clearly Hall of Fame but not quite a GOAT contender, with guys like Cruz, Faber, Frankie Edgar, Werdum, guys like that with very accomplished careers but no long reign of dominance atop a division.

It's all bull**** and opinion at the end of the day though

I fought against Cormier less than 5 times before the live tuner. Now I fight him about 99% of the time at LHW. Its because his chin is 95 and his heart is probaby high too (as it should be).

It allows people to exploit the broken damage and makes him a standup god.

Hmmm I go like this

GSP - he beat everyone, did it at 2 weights and did it clean
DJ - only thing holding him back is lack of competition to test him. If he dominates TJ than he may go to 1.
TJ (yes I think he is that good, skill for skill.)
DC - His only loss is to a PEDS user. otherwise I don't recall him losing a round and doing it at two weights. A Stipe win might move him further up.
Fedor (his North American failures, freak show fights, Russians hx of PEDS use and rumors of fixed PRIDE fights makes him lower)
Silva (PEDS use, although I think he didn't do it his entire career, plus lack of competition for the majority of his career pushes him lower.

It is all personal opinion for sure, I don't have DJ because he's just fighting the same circle of guys. If he goes up to fight TJ, he's up there. Aldo is different, its hard to argue GOAT status because I feel like he's only beat 2-3 guys in their prime. While the others beat equal competition while holding the belt. It's just tough to fit him in I think.

I don't want to get into a long discussion about this, but my GOAT rankings would be GSP, Aldo, Jones, Anderson, Fedor, DJ. Anderson, Fedor and DJ are pretty interchangable in terms of order, but GSP, Aldo and Jones are a pretty strong top 3 IMO.

The reason I have Aldo so high is that I think really highly of Chad Mendes and Frankie Edgar and think they're the best wins any GOAT candidate has in terms of skill (definitely not accomplishment/name value though), as well as thinking the rest of Aldo's schedule is pretty solid or at least comparable to the other guys in terms of skill if not in name value/accomplishment. He's also my favourite fighter, so bias is probably playing in a little bit.

Back to the thread topic though, DC is fine and doesn't need nerfed. He's just someone who's style meshes with the current meta very well.

Wait, I don't have Aldo in my group because getting beat in 13 seconds makes it hard. But he beat alot of great fighters in their prime. Faber, Swanson, Homminick, Florian, Edgar, Mendes 2x, Mike Brown, Lamas and The Korean Zombie. That is some dominant stuff over great fighters. Thats for sure 2 UFC HOF. Plus imagine if he lost to Mendes, Florian or Edgar. If those guys won that win alone would have pushed them to vaulted status (as is I think Frankie is like #8-9all time). The fact that he beat them says volumes.

13 seconds is the only reason I don't have him top 3
