Who's in control of my fighter

Sometimes it feels like my fighter is just doin hes own thing almost like im not in control/the game DOESN'T WORK!

Why does he just stand there and do nothing no punch no lunge i dont even think he moves.

    Im i rocked? Im hurt?

If im not he should do what the fuk i tell him to!

No one has explained why they just freeze up and do nothing show me a fighter in ufc block a 1-2 then stand there frozen from the impact of the punches.

If a fighter froze in ufc like they do in game they'd stop the fight they would think hes seriously hurt if hes just standing there gettin hit.

I think this might be lag and possibly packet loss. It's much more noticeable to me when trying to get a takedown. It just seems not to register a lot of the time and I'm just standing there like an idiot. I've definitely noticed it happening to my opponent as well. We'll both be standing there face to face unable to do anything for a second or two. Maybe throw a naked hook, a few canceled strikes in a row, maybe a weird clinch or TD animation that looks canceled halfway. I've always chalked it up to lag + input delay = general confusion. wysiNwyg!

I have an issue with strikes or inputs not coming out at all when I'm face to face with my opponent. Then I have an issue that strikes I'm not even inputting are coming out when I'm outside fighting and opponent is not in my face.

opponent in my face, ill try a jab, straight, hook and almost never comes out at all. I will have to try the combo 3 times for it to even come out once 2-3 seconds later.

opponent a little more then a straight distance away and If I do that same combo, jab-straight-hook, the hook comes out 6 times!

Devs drastically underestimate the effect that lag has on their game online. I really feel like they think it's more responsive than it actually is in practice, because if you look at the things they adjust it's almost like they think they made a different game. Given input lag and actual online lag, it's near impossible to implement half of what they expect you to. I think the whole "ghost attacks" thing you're talking about has to do with this. The engine chugs and struggles to handle what's happening OFFLINE, and they expect us to be able to do these split second inputs ONLINE?

I swear I remember one of the devs themselves telling us all about "predictive head movement" and then they go and remove that entirely. Not realizing how unresponsive the game actually is. Playing against an AI or a friend, I see how the changes they made are supposed to work and it feels great. But when you're in the online environment, chasing some coward who lives behind high block and only strikes after you do, the unresponsiveness of the game ends up putting you in so many ridiculous, unrealistic, and just generally not fun scenarios.

I can't be the only one ending up standing foot to foot with someone and trying to land a strike in edgewise while the game seems to recognize my inputs a second later than I did it. It's so ridiculous getting rocked by what appears to be a weak punch, at the end of combo that should of been stopped by a straight I landed.

Input lag is so real and it's extremely frustrating. It's gotta be how the combo system registers esp with online play. It was nothing like this in past EA UFC games.

I'm also trying to understand cancelled strikes. Is this when you punch or kick but he actually does nothing because of some timed block or something? Whatever it is, it makes the game feel even more broken, just let the strike go and have it be a whiffed strike that hits air or something. No need for any magical force to completely stop the strike from happening.
