Yes. You want a buff and a nerf. I get that.

And I would say it is aguable that you shouldn't be able to block while lunging. You can retreat while lunging and you have the back sprint. The lunge for when you want to commit entirely to a retreat. That animations states it clearly and owuldn't match well with a block.

And who said footwork is ineffective? That doesn't seem to be the case among the high level guys.

Lift your arms up into a blocking motion and lunge to the left or right. See? It’s possible.

The high level guys dont lunge or use head movement at all really because they’ve mastered the magnetic striking so it is basically a death sentence.

Calling it a “back sprint” when you lift up one arm and step backwards (while your stamina drains inexplicably) is a bit disingenious.

I think not being able to circle out or maintain distance are well-known issues that many people have brought up, and you know that.

Well it kind of is in real life. Hunting someone down in real MMA who is elusive with good footwork and not getting blasted by a counter takes significant skill and good tactical awareness. If someone wants to avoid action, it is very difficult to force it.

We don't need defensive movement to be nerfed; we need more offensive options for approaching, feinting, and realistic forward moving combinations

Would be interesting to see feints draw out more reactions, for example someone is holding block. You feint a strike to the head and it will raise their guard etc.

This could be used both ways.. so something exclusive to help cut off the cage is what people opposed to buffing circling are looking for.

Perhaps slowing down opponents along the corners of the cage could help people trying to cut off the cage. I think GCs have suggested a sticky cage mechanic before.

So frustrating to watch real fights where guys can bounce in and out of range WHILE BLOCKING. They
Can also bounce in or to the side and immediately strike or sway or grapple.

I really hope blocking returns for lunges and we get the ability to cancel them into other actions

Make the cage sticky add ufc 2 circle out and blocking and dashing problem easily to solved

This was in the game as a bug. It was fixed. Blocking while lunging would be OP.

Please explain how it would be ‘OP’? I’m pretty sure it was and still is in UFC 2. They made a change to it later to increase damage taken to your block by 50% or something.

1 of 2 things happen. You advance lunge, blocking high. You either avoid the straight strikes, block the hook/roundhouse and lose majority of your block, with some bleed through, or you blocked high instead of low(vice versa)lunge into the hook/kick and take huge amounts of damage, get rocked, or even dropped.

Lunging right now is a terrible idea, can’t block and you’re gonna be rocked if they connect. Makes trying to quickly circle off the cage dangerous as well.. I’m pretty sure Condit was doing this vs Diaz everytime his back hit the cage, he’d quickly lunge/circle out and reset.

you worried about balance? MAKE THE GAME MORE REALISTIC THEN. Don't remove realistic MMA techniques because you want to enforce some sort of metagame. Just make it ****ing function like MMA and it'll be balanced eventually

False, it is physically impossible to move sideways without keeping your chin up for a KO. Anatomy forces your hands down to your waist.
